Anyone else getting HARD PC crashes during gameplay?

Anyone else seeing their PC crash HARD during gameplay? I'm experiencing what looks like I pulled the power plug followed a few seconds later by a reboot and a delayed Windows log-in (I'm assuming CHKDISK is running but since I'm connected with DisplayPort I don't see it).

I'm also seeing the same shadow/artifact issues as everyone else with GTX680s in SLI, but these crashes worry me more as I don't want to damage the PC.

It could be a thermal cut-off, but the system is very well ventilated. Just last week I was playing FC3 maxed out and transcoding with Handbrake simultaneously for hours with no issues. I'm going to loop Firestrike Extreme combined test for a couple hours tonight to see if I can replicate the crash outside of FC4.

    System:
    i7-3970K
    2x EVGA GTX680 SC 2GB
    Asus P9X79

It does sound like what a video card does when it overheats, while your system may be ventilated "well" the card itself can have issues seperate from system temp.
Like I had a 480 gtx go 110c in farcry three due to a dust ball stuck in the internal heat sink that I could not see due to the video card being hidden in the black shroud. But when I check system and cpu temp they were at 34c and 39c. A single fan gpu will also run a bit hotter.

Without actual temperatures listed you don't really know for sure if heat isn't the culprit. Do you have any of the free monitoring software installed? (MSI AFTERBURNER/ EVGA PRECISION/ CPUZ/ CORE TEMP).
If not then get one, they are rather light weight and will allow you to see the temps you are hitting and set a higher fan speed/curve as well. Both are very simple.

IF you do have one, then I apologize, can you check the temperature? This game does not seem well optimized so it is definitely something that could crop up from the extra load.

I can max out every game but this one and regardless of setting it performs the same.. FC4 is indeed a different beast. I run at 57-60C temps here on low to ultra(no difference), in FC3 maxed and sweetfx, downsampled @ 45-48c. I wish I could help more but at the very least here is a bump.

Thanks, Rallywrx. I'm running latest EVGA Precision with a custom fan curve - I never see temps above 72c which is 72% fan speed on my curve. Cards are running at stock speeds with 132% power and have had minimal issues since install almost two years ago. VRM and chokes also have dedicated fans. I think I've had one blue screen in the last twelve months playing FC3/ACBF/etc. maxed out as opposed to 4 hard crashes in 2 hours playing FC4.

I'm going to alt-tab into Precision every minute or two tonight and see if FC4 is making the cards overheat.
