[UPDATE] Ubisoft did a ninja change on the PC patch ETA!

I have created this thread to advise customers who have been experiencing the "black screen" issue that Ubisoft have changed the "ETA" for the black screen patch.

Mods, please don't delete this thread. This thread is a service to those customers who may not have been made aware of this change in ETA. Ubisoft did not create a new post for this change, they simply did an edit of the original post. Because of this, it is very likely that the people who read the original post will not be made aware of Ubisoft's ninja edit of the original ETA.

Ubisoft originally posted that the ETA for the PC patch was the 21st Friday. They have now done a "ninja" edit. The following is a quote from the live news site -

EDIT: the patch will be released on Friday 21st or in the following days.

    *** AN OTHER UPDATE***

Well, there has been an other ninja edit, this time on Steam forum.

Ubisoft have potentially further delayed the ETA again.

This is the new update on the Steam forum

"Update: November 21st, 3:30PM Due to a minor delay this patch may be pushed to sometime early next week. We apologize for the inconvenience, and will update you if we have a new ETA."

Minor delay? 3-4 days after release is more then just a minor delay! So basically, who knows when this patch will come.

According to their original post, Ubisoft had claimed to have already fixed the black screen issue and implied that they were just waiting for the rest of the patch to be done.

"We have been able to remedy the issue... Though Patch 1.4.0 will contain additional fixes on release, we wanted to let users know that the black screen issue has been tackled. An update containing the full list of fixes will be posted to the blog prior to the patch being released on Friday."

What the hell is going on with this company. Are they bullsh1itting us? If they have already "remedied" the black screen issue then why not just release a hotfix rather then make us wait for a full patch release?

This black screen issue is a serious issue that is effecting many customers. The Ubisoft news live feed (for the black screen issue) currently has over 1000 listeners, and the main black screen thread has over 55,000 views. This is a massive issue for Ubisoft.

The size of this issue makes it reasonable to conclude that Ubisoft knew about this issue prior to release. If so, this means that they deliberately misled their customers. Remember that there was a PC review embargo prior to release. Makes you think, no? There was a truth embargo on the real state of their game.

If in the unlikely chance that they didn't know about this issue prior to release, then that means that Ubisoft simply didn't test their game extensively enough. This is disgraceful considering they spent many millions on just marketing.

Something smells fishy. Vote with you voice!

What does this mean? Well, it is not really an ETA! It is too broad an ETA to be considered a reasonable estimated time of arrival. "Following days" can mean anything. Even though this statement sounds like an ETA, it is not. It really is just a "soon". It could be released in weeks and still fit within the parameters of their statement.

    This is disgusting.

There has been OVER 45,000 views of the "black screen" thread. This means that this is not a small problem. It is a problem that the developers would have certainly been aware of before release. So please remember this for those who would say "go easy on Ubisoft".

Yes, I saw that. Not very professional to set our expectation for today and then to alter it to some indefinite date.
Agree that it effectively translates as "soon".

I guess I cannot expect to play this for some time.

There is something seriously wrong with the development project team's methods for this to have happened.
If they released the game knowing that a % of PC's would not run it then that would be fraud and I have to doubt that was their intention.

Ah well, there are other games around right now that I'm also interested in.

I don't get why they even make PC ports of games if they don't want to ensure their game works. This is nothing but fraud at this point.

BUMPED because it appears that some customers still haven't been made aware of the sneaky ETA change that Ubisoft made on their news page.

theres actually a lot of things you can do to stop this practice....

starting with being responsible for your own actions.

actions like pre ordering or day 1 buying.
this alone would fix the problem instantly.

not to mention sending an email to the sites that advertise the games,as they are as guilty of false advertising as the publishers and developers.

or for instance when you see a "pre order bonus" as dlc or free bonus.and see it for what it is...a slice of the game removed and offered as bogus content.to get you to commit to a broken game.

they are greedy lil piggies who just want your money,if you just hand it over then the state of the game is all your fault.
