what's the deal with enemies reclaiming outposts?

I'm asking because I got a notice saying a nearby outpost was under attack and when i went over there it saved my game, so if i were to die it would restart me back at the beginning where my outpost would still be under attack by the enemy. Then there are times where I'll get a notice that says i failed to defend the outpost but the outpost stays in golden path control.

Am I experiencing a glitch or can enemies not retake outposts?

Well they can´t. The only intention in it is that you can gain additional experience. I would have preferred if you ignore 3 attacks they take it back. Not the only disappointment with this game :S.

Taking them also affects the meta-story in Far Cry 4, as it stops the ongoing attacks to the outposts you've already claimed in that particular region. At first I was kind of annoyed that outposts could be reclaimed by the enemy, especially since losing one takes away a hard-earned fast-travel point. But after two of my posts were stolen I was emboldened to take the fort at any cost, which was a pretty awesome feeling and led to a real sense of accomplishment.

still confused.. I've actually tried to let the enemy recapture an outpost by driving off or killing all GP members but the outpost never changed hands.

I was thinking that maybe the day 1 patch has something to do with it or it's a common glitch as others are saying they can be reclaimed by the royal army.
