Upon further testing, evga precision wasn't the culprit. So what fixed it for me was either disabling both the Steam and Uplay overlays, or reinstalling the game for a 3rd time. I will mention that in this case, I didn't redownload the game but rather made a steam backup, uninstalled the game, and then used the backup to reinstall it... let me know if any of those steps helps your situation at all since I am definitely curious.Originally Posted by J_Darcy Go to original post
It's not all rosy gameplay wise though, I'm surprised at just how demanding this game is... You'd think that 3x GTX 680 4GB in 3-way sli would be sufficient, but I'm fluctuating between 45-70fps in some cases on my 120hz 1440p display. That, and so far I can't play the game without it hard locking up my PC for more than 10-15 minutes. It might be my PSU which is a bit under spec for the cards I have installed, but on the other hand I haven't had hard lockups in any other games that max all 3 cards, like Tomb Raider and Far Cry 3 for example, it's stable for hours on end.
I just tried launching without the overlay, no success sadly.Originally Posted by Vast_Girth Go to original post
As far as I know it installs the components when you press play for the 1st time, before that its just downloading I think.
I wonder how Ubi will recover from this disaster, I'm sure for many others like me it has shattered their confidence in Ubi's ability to deliver a functioning product on schedule.
I'm also wondering at what point this situation becomes a breach of consumer rights and entitles us to a refund.
Damn them for making me think in this way, I've never thought about getting a refund for a game before![]()
i had only 2 games crashing with the error 0xc0000005 and they were far cry 4 and assassins creed unity so i just figured it was a uplay error. But then i read somewhere that this error is a memory addressing error and down clocked my ram, although it was already under clocked a little. EVERY other game runs fine including fc3 and all the other AC games and watch dogs. So now I have NO 0xc0000005 error, strange that i only got these error on the newest of uplay games. So I hope this might help somebody.
Extra bit of info for those interested. I tried replacing the DirectX, .NET and vcredist installer executables with a "dud" exe (just an empty executable that runs and then immediately ends) since I know that they're all up to date, but still have the same error, so I don't think it's anything to do with the "corrupt" messages we're getting from those.
I tried dropping my ram to 1033Mhz (from 1600), with no impact on the errorOriginally Posted by stevvie69 Go to original post![]()
