And Ubisoft, thank you for patching in the GODRAYS back. Don't think we haven't noticed that. Thank you!

And now, work off our list, ASAP!!!

I support this thread a 100%.... Nothing kills a game more to me than all the kiddy stuff on the screen !

I completely stopped playing Watchdogs after a few days cause of this. I was on the fence on buying FC4 cause FC2 was one of my all time favourite, now seeing all of this are STILL in Ubisoft games, will make me save my money.... Such a shame !

Sigh ! I don't even know why I bother anymore. I just remembered I went to the same quest for Watch Dogs asking Ubisoft to remove HUD stuff and nothing has ever been done....

You have ''community managers'' that say thanks for your feedback, but in reality they will never do anything about it. Pretty sure all this stuff is hardcoded in the game anyway... People like us that doesn't need to be taken by the hand like little kids to play a game are probably a minority anyway...

Immersion factor is the only way to go for me, but I guess I'm the only one :-(

EDIT : Suffran, I just saw that you did the same with Watch Dogs at the time, lol ! Good luck there buddy, we will need it I guess....

Great list, Suffran - agree whole heartedly.

I hope this is not stepping out of line, but can I just say for all those wanting an open-world, first-person game that allows you to get rid of all the HUD, you can't do better than GTA V on current gen consoles.

I'm still investigating if absolutely ALL HUD can be turned off. There are definitely no button prompts for any of the actions, but online I think you get other player notifications such as "[such a player] left" and "[such a player] killed [such a player]". There is a 'notifications off' option, but I'm not sure if this disables ALL notifications.

Just out of interest, I've often wondered if I'm the only person that worries about HUDs in games with a 1st-person perspective?

If the game is in 3rd person, I don't care how much HUD there is because the immersion is not there to be spoiled in the first place.

OurJud, of course GTA 5 is the king when you talk about open-world / sandbox game. The immersion factor is bar none. You don't need a reminder every freakin time to press Y to enter a car...

Rockstar understood a long time ago that their players aren't brain dead and also probably why they sell a gazillion copies of their games...

I remember Killzone 2 had the option to turn everything off which made the game very different to play not always for the best especially if playing with randoms online but sp looked sexy as without any clutter. Come on Ubisoft atleast give people the option where's the harm in that?

They all have since 2. I was a bit worried that they wouldn't bother with KIllzone Shadowfall on the PS4, as the game has taken a very different direction and has lost a lot of its grit and realism. Thankfully, the 'HUD off' option is there again and just as thorough and complete.

Most developers (we're looking at you, Ubi) just don't seem to understand what is meant by 'no HUD'. They give you lots of HUD options, but then leave all manner of litter trailing behind and presume no one will care.

Exactly! Just stand next to the car and press Y / triangle to trigger the animation. It's not rocket science, is it? I also hate it when you come to a door in buildings and get a prompt every time too. Just tell me in a short tutorial or in the game's booklet how I interact with things... I'LL REMEMBER!!!

Apparently, Ubisoft assumes their customers are bunglers or something. I am surprised to see at least a few people to place value on immersion. Nowadays, 95% of Ubisoft's customers are most probably casual gamers who can't remember the button configuration of a game which they played yesterday. Otherwise these forums would explode from complaint threads in regard to HUD and disruptive eyesore.

As we appear to be the minority here, Ubisoft can afford to ignore us. I've known Suffran for a while now and he has already started similar threads as mine for several games - with no results. I lost any hope that Ubisoft will ever listen to their customers. The market-research department of them obviously orientates on the majority of players, and the majority doesn't even know what HUD stands for or what "immersion" is. They must think we are freaks or something.

At least you are not alone, I'm a BIG freak, lol !

I also Imagine the artists that work for Ubisoft. The ones that work to make the game so damn gorgeous and they see the guys that work on the ''hud'' that put a ''carnivore'' icon on top a freakin' tiger ! WTF ? They must go nuts....

I don't disagree with that sentiment at all, but on the positive side I would say that we shouldn't give up hope just yet. I think they do listen if enough people shout about the same thing, which is why Far Cry 3 got the HUD options patch a few months after release.

The most frustrating aspect, of course, is that they addressed the situation, but only half understood what we wanted. The end result meant they might as well have not bothered at all, because fans of a HUD-less option were still left wanting due to the minimap that still couldn't be removed.

Then FC4 comes along and things look very promising, with a wealth of HUD options, all of which can be turned off. But, of course, they STILL got it wrong, for all the reasons given in the previous posts.
