EDIT:
The forum member Suffran kindly posted a detailed list of suggestions on page 3 and summarized all of the mentioned requests of me and numerous forum members. Thank you for that!
[Original post]
Ubisoft, please allow us players to manually turn off the flashing effect on items, corpses (animals as well as humans), objects, collectibles, weapons, plants etc.!
I am a purist player and this feature already ruined Far Cry 3 for me back then. Now it is once again holding me back from immersing fully into this great sequel. By the way - FC4 is the best Ubisoft game ever made, congratulations on that. You finally did it right!
Apart from that, one other thing is extremely annoying me and my friends on PSN. The environmental destination indicators that show the player where to go next or the letters that indicate missions/characters (I don't mean the minimap, I mean the 3D ones within the gameworld) They can not be turned off in the menu, WHY??
All collectible objects, mission objectives, corpses, waypoint markers - simply everything is already marked on the minimap. So why has the scenery to be destroyed constantly by having arrows, cursors and blinking waypoints in our faces? I don't need them to orientate!
I turned everything in the menus off except the minimap, which I made transparent (thanks for this option btw., I love it!). So I don't need any reminding 3D cursors/markers/arrows in the game world! It distracts me and destroys the otherwise great atmosphere of the game.
Please Ubisoft, next time you bring a patch for Far Cry 4, give us players the option to disable the flashing/blinking effect on all concerned elements and the 3D indicators that show up when story missions are nearby, or if you set a manual waypoint.
I want a clean picture just with my transparent minimap and nothing else, is that too much to ask for?!
You should do this in all future games by the way, as many old school players hate disruptive HUD elements such as the aforementioned ones. I don't even want to play any further unless I can turn these things off...
But anyway, thank you guys for giving us such a great game and thank you in advance for (hopefully) implementing my request!![]()
Im in full support of this. Would love to see these options implemented.
Are they afraid we might have to much fun?
I really wish we had the option to turn off the yellow circle and arrow for those of us that want to play without an eyesore and constant distraction.
What is it called anyways? I never see much about it mentioned and its not an option in the interface menu.
It really takes away from adventuring. Im a pretty casual gamer logging in a couple hours here and there throughout the week.
Finally someone who mentions these fatal design mistakes of Ubisoft games. I fully agree with LostSoul90 and his request to give us an opportunity to turn off these atmosphere killers. Who in gods name came up with this idea anyway? BLINKING OBJECTS AND CORPSES, WTF UBISOFT?? Do you think we players are less well-off and can't read the button prompt that shows up near lootable corpses, crates and objects? It can't be overlooked for god's sake!!
I also want to add some other requests to LostSoul90's list of options that should be patched in ASAP:
- an option to turn off the flashing/blinking interactive objects/corpses
- an option to turn off the environmental destination indicators
- an option to turn off button prompts such as "pick up weapon", "enter vehicle" etc.
- an option to turn off the button reminders which show up while using certain vehicles such as the glider, gyrocopter etc. (L3 TO USE WINGSUIT for instance)
- an option to turn off the purple karma event reminders
Especially the "L3 for wingsuit" button prompt ruins the entire vista while gliding. We are not intellectually challenged Ubsioft, we can read the extended tutorial in the pause menu once and then remember the buttons for the rest of our lives!!!
To make it short dear HUD/Interface/Gameplay designers at Ubisoft - please treat us gamers like normal people and not dumb sheeps. Give us at least the opportunity to fully immerse into a game which has been designed meticulously. Don't ruin the hard work of the visual department by destroying the scenery with markers, button prompts, constantly repeating tutorials and flashing crap!

I think that's the exact reason!!
Come on Ubisoft, you can't be serious about this flashing thing. What the hell were you guys thinking??
I guess some of you forgot you're playing a videogame.... This has been in the series for quite some time and to claim it's ruined FC3 is pretty funny. Right now Ubi is more than likely working on the multiplayer issues which is where the real problems are. If this was such a big deal in 3 you should've known better than to get 4.....
I agree. This "feature" is the reason I stopped playing FC3 on PC until I found a mod to turn off all of the HUD. It is one of the main reasons why I will not purchase this game until a patch is released to turn off all HUD features. I want to get it for XBOX 360 to play with friends but the blinking everything ruins it for me along with all the s*** cluttering up the screen. I might have to wait until modders fix it for PC it will probably be cheaper then also.

But unfortunately, Ubisoft tends to not allow players to fully immerse into their games. Assassin's Creed Unity, for instance, suffers from the same or even worse HUD mistakes as Far Cry 3/4. It is disruptive as hell, takes away all the fun of adventuring and decreases the immersion tremendously.

Assassins's Creed 4: Black Flag, for example, was such a nice game that was unnecessarily ruined by a large, permanently visible and ugly mission objective reminder, which could not be turned off. Flashing chests and doors, the ridiculous enemy highlighting while fighting - all those things kept me away from enjoying the game. In Unity, they kept out the option to disalbe the ESS (environmental markers and stuff, same as Far Cry 4) - WHY?? It makes the game unplayable for me!!!
Far Cry 3 and AC3 back then were such visually stunning games, but once again ruined by silly HUD design.
Ubiosoft games have by far the worst HUD design in the whole gaming industry in my book. Look at Watch Dogs, AC games, Far Cry games. They all suffer from the same problems. Games like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption or Dragon Age Series on the other side have perfectly subtle HUD systems AND an option to COMPLETELY turn off everything if the player wants to. But often it's not even necessary because the HUD design is already clever and not obstrusive.
For Far Cry 4 and all future Ubisoft games, I wish a redesigned, subtle and less obstrusive HUD design and the ability to turn of every tiny bit of indication. Even the "press button to reload" prompt, which is just ridiculous by the way!!
Apropos, here are two things I want to add to the expanded to-do-list for the Far Cry 4 HUD:
- an option to turn off the flashing/blinking interactive objects/corpses
- an option to turn off all environmental destination indicators within the game world (not the ones on the minimap!)
- an option to turn off all kinds of button prompts such as "pick up weapon", "enter vehicle" etc.
- an option to turn off the button reminders which show up while using certain vehicles such as the glider, gyrocopter etc. (L3 TO USE WINGSUIT for instance)
- an option to turn off all occasional event reminders such as the purple karma event reminders, destroyable trucks, bombs etc.
- an option to turn off the "press button to reload" prompt seperately from the other prompts
To make it short, I want to be able to turn off everything artificial and just enjoy the visual fidelity of the game.

Nevertheless, I want to emphazise a few things in Far Cry 4 for which my credit goes to you guys in full extent:
The sound of the game is terrific, both the magnificent soundtrack as well as the sound effects (although they have been recycled a lot). The environmental ambient sounds are just great and the voice cast is stunningly good, regardless of the language.
The texts are well written and the background music while reading stuff is inviting you to read even more - totally atmospheric! One bug I mentioned before installing the day one patch was the fact that all sounds would disappear while reading an ingame message (letters or so), but you guys patched away that issue in no time. Thank you for even noticing such little details! That's what customers want from developers - passion for detail. It makes the difference beetween a bad, an average, a good and a perfect game.
As I mentioned before, the visuals of the game (on next gen consoles and PC) are just breathtaking. I caught myselfs all the time just standing around and enjoying the vista for minutes!
The animations are top notch and could'nt have been done any better. The immersion with the protagonist ist beyond any other ego shooter.
The storytelling is just lovely so far and motivating. The sidequests are not as dumb as in Far Cry 3 and fit a lot better into the game world.
There are less logical problems in the Far Cry 4 universe and the portagonist is way more believable! There are much more things that deserve to be mentioned but that would take ages....
I'd really consider Far Cry 4 a perfect game if the aforementioned issues were patched away. So please Ubisoft, listen to us gamers and make your games even beter!!![]()
Updated list:
- an option to turn off the white flashing/blinking effect on interactive objects and corpses (crates, weapons, ammo boxes, human corpses, animal corpses etc.)
- an option to turn off all environmental destination indicators (dynamicly moving arrows on the screen rims which lead to visible letters and symbols within the game world, the minimap and its symbols are not concerned!)
- an option to turn off all kinds of button prompts such as "pick up weapon", "enter vehicle", "loot body", "skin animal", "press to reload", "press to enter", "press to heal" etc.
- an option to turn off the button reminders which show up while using certain vehicles such as the glider, gyrocopter, car, boat etc. (L3 to use wingsuit, press button to deploy parachute, press button to change seat etc.)
- an option to turn off the text reminder while auto-driving is active
- an option to turn off all occasional event reminders such as the karma events, destroyable trucks, Pagan's wrath, bomb defusing, hostage saving, shootout assists etc.
- an option to turn off all tutorial related messages/button reminders/pop ins
- an option to seperately turn off the "press button to reload" prompt
- an option to deactivate automatic reloading when the magazine is empty
Furthermore, I'd like to make some suggestions regarding future Far Cry games.
Please add more gore to Far Cry or at least make it an option like in Assassin's Creed. It would be more atmospheric to have dynamic blood stains on walls/objects and puddles of blood beneath corpses. Flesh wounds/bullet holes and bloody clothes on enemies, resp. animals like in Assassin's Creed, blood splatter on the screen after a melee attack and a bloody knife, red blood pools in the water after killing an enemy near water would be very authentic, too. These are all things which already had been in good Ego Shooters over a decade ago and also in the first Far Cry game. So why not doing it right then, as the Far Cry universe is totally brutal and cruel anyway.
Apart from that, the animation of characters while they descend/ascend at stairs or mountain slopes are faulty, The animation remains the same as on even ground. Look how people walk stairs or hills in Assassin's Creed or the latest Dragon Age. That's how it actually should look like.
The day/night cyle in this game is totally awkward, too. At night, for example, the moon and stars visibly wander when the character is moving. Even if you just look around a bit, the skybox moves along. If you stand completely still for minutes - on the other hand - the time won't progress and the moon won't move either. But then if you walk again, it'll move with you. This is the most ridiculous day/night system I have ever seen in any videogame, totally hilarious and artificial. Anyways, the cycles are not even balanced. Nights are always shorter than days and the overall time progresses way too fast. You guys should implement a regular time system like the GTA universe. 24 Minutes = 1 day. I wouldn't mind if a day in Far Cry was 30 minutes long, as you can fast forward time for certain daytimes.
I fully agree with the expansion of the to-do-list but what you said about future games is a little bit fussy in my opinion. Of course they could have included these things in the first place but less authentic gore, faulty animations and illogical day-night cycles are negligible compared to the disruptive HUD issue.Originally Posted by Suffran Go to original post
Perhaps they will include more gore and smooth animations in the first "true" next-gen Far Cry game. Who knows...
Right now I am more concerned about the blinking things and floating arrows. I stopped playing 4 days ago because of that and won't proceed until they patch our "list" in. If they don't, I will have to sell the game, my PS4 and some other things in order to purchase a decent gaming PC and rely on mods for that. But I honestly hope I won't have to!! Come on Ubisoft, show us that you are not EA yet!!!
