Stutter because maxing one CPU Core?

TotalBiscuit made a point in his video about one his core would max out... So after playing some game I also noticed the same thing.

Frankly, I don't think this is the issue causing the stuttering, but I could be wrong. Maxing one CPU core while balancing load on the others is how many other CPU intensive games manage their assets as well. I've seen smooth framerates on other games with consistent results. And looking at your results in FC4, it looks like the other cores are getting used fairly balanced.

On the other hand, try turning the Textures setting in Video Options down to Medium. Then get on a vehicle and start traveling around the environment like TB does. You'll notice that the stuttering is, for the most part, gone. This points to the problem being with the game's texture streaming. I opine that this is directly a port problem. Ubisoft need only optimize the game for medium textures on consoles, because that's all they can run. Who needs High/Very High/Ultra settings? Well, PC players do, especially when you use the game as a staple of cutting edge NVidia technology. Unfortunately, Ubisoft didn't care to optimize the textures to actually load in properly without horrible stuttering at these higher levels.

A patch is sorely needed. As TB rightly points out, this is the biggest problem the game has on PC right now.

People with SSDs experience exact stuttering I see on my WD Black 7200rpm hard drive.. So wtf. even if you run it on an SSD it will do the same thing as a regular 7200rpm STAT6 hard drive (a pretty fast one, but still mechanical). That is a game engine issue obviously. It doesn't happen in FC3 and that is also a huge game world. They need to fix this as well as many other huge problems.
