    Possibel black screen fix...

I had the problem all day with none of those being apart of the solution. Unplugging did nothing for me. The problem was just solved for me when I ran CCleaner on my registry and fixed all the issues there. There were only a few as I just reinstalled windows 7 pro x64 yesterday. Then I ran a chkdsk /f :c in a command prompt with elevated permission... ie as administrator and restarted my computer. The computer did a check disk on the C drive and once it was finished and I ran the game, it ran like a champ. It's crap programing through and through. But unplugging stuff only is an issue for some. A lot of others out there are good to go with doing what I did.

Did you have any USB devices plugged in:
    A before black screen
    B after you fix?

Yes to everything. All my devices are plugged in. I really don't think it has anything to do with the USB stuff. But what do I know, I'm a consumer not a programer/retailer capitalizing on me.

Oh man, i was soooo hoping that would fix the problem. But, no. Thanks for posting though.

I did exactly as you instructed. Were there any other steps you did that you might not have mentioned?

    Black Screen on Laod

$60 up front to a AAA studio for a game with great ancestry and I get the Black Screen. Ubi, don't even try telling me there is some prob with my rig. I have 100+ titles on this rig and I can spin any and all of them up flawlessly. When a hundred games of all sorts run, and yours doesn't, you need to look within your own organization......someone there is Bush League! No excuse for this at all.

Man, you know, the only thing that I didn't elaborate on was the CC cleaner part. I did a whole system cleans. I also have to say that I really think that the chkdsk /f on the drive the game was installed on are the two biggest things. Theyre are lots of reports of there install codes not leaving HHD's correct after the game installed. I obviously rebooted after the chkdsk because I had to, but I hope it works out for you guys...

SOLVED!!! No more Black Screen/Non-Launch on Far Cry 4

This is more of a workaround than a solution... but nevertheless, I got the game to finally work after spending my entire evening troubleshooting a game I pre-purchased for $60 and which I believe should be ready to play on day one!

Here's what the issue turned out to be for me....

    - I unplugged my Saitek Eclipse Gaming Keyboard (model # KU-0418) and launched Far Cry 4. Low and behold... it launched for the first time!
    - I setup my game options, then quit the game (this step is optional).
    - To confirm my theory, I re-plugged the same Saitek Eclipse Gaming Keyboard into USB and tried to launch the game. Same black screen.
    - The final confirmation came when I dusted off a regular Logitech keyboard I had and plugged it in and the game launched without issues.

Seems like the game isn't reading certain USB peripherals correctly. I'd say the keyboard is a pretty big deal. However, if you really want to play the game and have another keyboard or can play with a controller - this workaround method might work for you. Definitely give it a try. I'm about to go update my support case I filed with Ubisoft Support tonight. Kinda sad that I have to figure this issue out on my own... Get with the program , UbiSoft!
