Game Hangs on First Loading Screen

    Hey All

So I'm not sure if this is different from the USB devices issues people have been having problems. For what its worth, I think it sounds like a different problem, and I've also done all the fiddling around with USB devices settings that I can, with no improvement. I use no extra devices, and my keyboard and mouse are just basic.

So anyway, when I launch Far Cry 4, it opens up the splash screen, then opens a screen which has a loading bar at the bottom, a black background, and blue and red colours flying across it. The bar at the bottom fills up three quarters of the way quickly, and the slow fills the rest. When the bar at the bottom fills up completely, nothing happens. If I try to alt-tab, the program freezes and the message says the game has suffered an AppHang error. If I don't alt-tab, it just stays on that screen, with a full bar and flying colours in the background forever. I've also tried just leaving it on that screen for 15 mins, but nothing seems to happen. It just stays perpetually on the loading screen.

Has anyone else had this problem before?

I guess im the lucky one here, On that windows the bar speeds towards 75% then it stops there and crawls slowly til the end, when at the end it sits there for a long time but eventually it loads. The whole process I timed it and its about 5 minutes which is mad frustrating to say the least, but hey, it starts. I tried all channels got a ticket open with support sent cfg files tried everything disabled crossfire removed every usb device, nothing. and its the ONLY game that does that, I play them all and my machine is an SSD beast. so just go play football or something as they will take their time, its enough to look at the patch 2 preview fixes, a joke lol.

"So", do you always start everything you say with "so"? It adds nothing to the content...just sayin'.

And, "so", now I'll address the issue. I d/l'ed FC4 today and it black-screened immediately - no splash screens, nada.

Research on the web showed huge numbers of people with lots of speculation about what the deal is/was, but most of it was pure guess-work. Some people claimed to actually found the "real" problem, but all that did nothing for me....except for one. The one thing that led me to a fix for MY blackscreen was a comment that pointed to "HID" devices.

I happen to have quite a few USB devices connected to my system, mostly for flight simulation. I have USB mice and a keyboard, but also Saitek rudder pedals and a couple of other Saitek sim devices. I found that disabling the two Saitek HID devices I had connected fixed the FC4 loading issue. Only the HID Saitek devices were at issue; none of the devices identified as USB caused any problem.

So, (OK, sorry about that), on my system, the problem was isolated to Saitek devices, and ONLY the HID ones, not the USB ones, as identified in Device Manager. Just "Disabling" them did the trick, I did not "Uninstall" them. Hopefully, sometime soon, Ubisoft will discover what makes Saitek HID drivers incompatible with FC4 and patch it.

    YMMV.

Well thanks for the help everyone, I've managed to sort the problem after much trial and error.

I launch the game, and when it's stuck on the loading screen, I open Task Manager, go to Processes, tick "Show all Processes from all users" at the bottom, and then close as many processes called wmiprvse.exe as possible. Once wmiprvse.exe is gone, it boots to the main menu.

No idea why, but I'm so glad its sorted.

AMD radeon hd 8670M 2gb graphic card << there is your problem , how do i know that ??? i have a AMD laptop with a similar GPU
mine has the AMD HD 8670 + 8650 G graphics

and no it does not run the game very well at all .. you need a better PC

i ran it in 720 P and was only getting like 20 to 30 FPS and its choppy and i have an AMD A 10 5750 quad core 3.5 ghz CPU and 16 gig of ram in that laptop , here is a link to my laptop

    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo....106718.0.html

and your gonna need to use drivers from your laptop makers web site ONLY............ and yes use older drivers .. as AMD is no longer optimizing drivers for laptop GPU's that old

also if your bought your game on steam see the tips section over on steam pinned to the top of the forums
