The game doesn't break any illusions. People automatically assume that everyone is going to dissect every track they play to see what is happening in them. I can assure you this won't be the case. Either content makers will use the new cam for amazing screenshots, or builders who want to figure out things they feel are interesting in a track. I don't see alot of casuals using this feature to just look around in every track. Because why would they?
And people can descide for themselves if it's worth it to "break the illusion". But if you are already a builder, you know what's going on in a track, you know everything is catered to the game camera to make an illusion, so looking around doesn't even change anything. It's like building your own track, you know what's going on behind the scenes, but you still have to be immersed in the illusion yourself during testing if you want it to be a good track.
And think about it, if a casual dissects a track, "sees trough the illusion" maybe they will start to appreciate good tracks a bit more, or become interested in building themselves.
People should stop being egoistic because they feel it doesn't benefit them. Maybe it wasn't the feature you where waiting for, but that doesn't make it a bad one.
Let me just ask you 2 things
Do you think that without the selfie they would have released a feature that enables people to look around tracks ?
Why do you think this feature wasn't enabled for the career mode upon release of the game if this game is so orientated around creators if this is going to help builders ?
I dont care if people look around my track and also think this might prove to be a good thing in time after more freedom is developed in opening the world up , i suppose my main point was that they are trying to say that this was aimed as a tool also to help creators which i dont think it was. I think that this is simpy being used as tool for the creators so they can say that they have actually given us something because lets face it since the game has been released what new feature have they applied to the game that is aimed to the builders yet this game is based around people creating tracks.
I want something designed for builders something that is based upon what builders do in tc to keep the game actually playable apart from the dlc career tracks. We as builders refresh this game daily and i didnt want them using a tool that is meant mainly for something else as an escape goat and claim well its for that too. Its a selfie and the fact that it reaches far enough to see the tracks is
just by coincidence.
For riders of the game there has been lots added , tournements , teams , little emblems for the teams , leaderboards sorted and many many more updates but not too many for the builders. Ok patches on the editor stuff but not something that is just for serious builders. where is the builders leaderboards or information on what they achieved. Riding for me is the second part to this game building is my first but i there doesnt seem to much focused on updates or new things for us.
Just wanted too reply because its good to debate and find out people thoughts.
cheers basline
edit - sorry i did forget that they added a driveline event which was very cool so thought i would add it here as only just rememberd and thought it only right to mention it![]()
u lost me with the egotistical bit ? . if i create something should it not be up to me what i do with it . im guna have to repeat myself but if i create a track .ie an illusion it should stay that way . because me the person who created it . for you to enjoy wants it to . simple as . im not against the camera bit if you could take stills in the game and use them or post them .but just having a camera 360 for no reason and upsetting builders is pretty lame . serves no purpose whatsoever . apart from being awesome obviouslyOriginally Posted by bassline001 Go to original post
I really have no problem with the new camera.
Even if it makes some tracks look like some western movie set (flat decor with emptyness behind the wooden fake buildings).
It's not available during gameplay, so the illusion is never broken during times where it matters most.
A track should NEVER be rated/downvoted based on some parts of a track that look ugly via the new replay cams but look fine otherwise during play.
It doesn't mean a decor need to be fulled 360 degrees around (it's a nice bonus with extra complexity to spare, keeping performance ok in the meantime by not overdoing it).

As the RC is the game camera, anything in your track that relies on the position of the camera,ATTN: Coders
such as the Object Data Source: Visible on screen,
can break while zooming around with the camera!
If you own the 360 version, check out "TEST Replay Camera 3". Play a round, then exit as usual. Watch your replay. Before the bike leaves the red area on the bridge, press X once and look ahead. The bridge will vanish and 1 of 3 things will happen.
1. You will fall and hit the alternate End trigger, passing the track in almost half the time! This will not affect your track score however, but it does open up an alternate route as an Easter Egg, providing the next 2 points do not occur.
2. You will get a message like "Cannot view replay anymore using Free or (other) mode. The replay will restart.
3. You will get the famous message of "Replay data is corrupt and cannot be viewed further."
I have not yet tested alternate driving lines, and if the control inputs can be turned off during a replay
egoistic because all the complaints are about "it breaks the illusion", wich it really doesn't during gameplay. Only when someone descides for himself if he wants the illusion broken. Why would you be upset if someone looks around in your track if it can potentially help them step up their own building? Like I said, I don't see casuals really use this feature. Either content creators or other builders. And in case you have forgotten, technically, once you upload a track, it isn't your track anymore. Your name might be on it, but it's property of ubisoft/redlynx and they can do with your track whatever they want.Originally Posted by kidmpc Go to original post
but im not egotistical to make and spend my time to create something for you to play ?. yep thats really self centered of me . and i really cant explain seeing a tracks warts and all " should." if you have eyes ruin the illusion . because what the game camera sees is one thing and what the freecam sees is the mistakes/were its built/ were it ends / how it was made/ what was used . do u get the picture ?.Originally Posted by bassline001 Go to original post
