I hear a lot of people here crying that ubisoft released an unfinished game
but well they most likely did that on purpose with a good enough reason
there isn't better way to test for game bugs glitches crashed freezing issues then let 10 million people to play it an report any problem they encounter i don't think Ubisoft has that match people at their branch to test all of it
that's why they want you to play and report it so they can fix it
Ubisoft using the game testing method like any other company in the world you are their customers they want to know what are the problems the game still has and the best way to to know is release the game and hear the world's feedback that's why they want you to report any bug glitch freeze or crash you have
So you expect people to shell out $60/£50 for a buggy game? There's this thing called QA. Seems Ubisoft didn't do any. If they want people to report bugs, they should of allowed people early access. It's when you buy the game around mid-way through development for a reduced price and give them feedback, report bugs, you know just aid the development. What they've done is released a full priced buggy game which is not the way it should be done at all. I really do mean no disrespect, but if you stand behind them with this decision you have to be either a fanboy or a bit ignorant.
I have to agree here. I would love nothing more right now than to side with Ubi, I love their games, but I can't. This is exactly the purpose of a beta or early access version: to get a lot of people playing with all sorts of different hardware and get the kinks worked out before it "hits shelves".Originally Posted by krushSC Go to original post
As an example, I have been participating in an early access/beta of Elite Dangerous for a while. I think I paid a portion to get the game in the early stages but I get something in return when it's in final release (I can't remember what exactly). It's been buggy, sure, but at the same time it's awesome seeing them evolve the game and add new features and fix what's broken. They communicate on almost everything with regular updates and newsletters. It's amazing how much progress the game has made since I started to now.
There's aaaalways a post-release optimization/hidden kinks stage to go through. I just find it hard to believe that through a thorough QA process they didn't encounter some issues like: Game freezes when entering certain districts (my issue and a very common one), dropping through the map, Eyeballs popping out, just to name a few. These aren't just framerate or optimization issues and occasional crashes. Many of these are reproducible, unavoidable, game-ending errors.
I am sure they truly are working their behinds off right now to figure everything out, and I appreciate it. It just seems to me this crisis-mode they're in could have been avoided.
Nope no way im paying $60 to be a beta tester.
Not only that they knew and tried to hide it with review embargo.
Also I cant support Ubisoft because they locked off content unless you join Initiates and download an app(I dont have or want an Iphone). Then their is the microtransactions. This is not a F2P MMO.
And whats sad is I love AC games, but not like this.
If we are going to be beta testers I would expect at least 10% off. This isn't Steam early access. Come out with a finished game or delay the game and have it in a state where it is working. You can't charge people for a game that some can't even launch and others who have beastly rigs and still get frame drops and random crashes.
This, by far, is probably the most damning evidence.Originally Posted by Showtime106 Go to original post
There usually is some sort of embargo on review copies... BUT this one extended 12 hours AFTER the release of the game. It seems like they wanted everyone to get the game in hand before the news broke.
they stopped viewing us as gamers to be pleased for profits a long time ago
we are now just cash cows to be milked with any devious methods needed to squeeze that money out of us.
this is a self inflicted situation for the pre orderers, and also for those buying after the news broke, and a con job on the day one buyers.
Ubisoft are blameless in this, and will continue this business model until it stops working.
to stop it working you all need to stop pre ordering and buying sight unseen, because when you do that you are totally responsible for what they are doing.
i refrrain from casting aspersions on the mentality of people who time after time are unequipped mentally to stop bending over and parting those cheeks to expose the lips you never kiss with whenever a game is being released.
someone was always going to swipe your money, either by being mugged in the street or at the till by buying something that today has a well known reputation for giving you the shaft up the wrong un.
its like a pavlovian circle :
new game coming
pre order it
its crap
throw toys out the pram for a week
rinse and repeat ad infinitum
they dont love you or respect you, they just....WANT YOUR MONEY !
and if all they have to do to get it is make a few promises and hide the rust spots on the suspension....guess what ?
they will keep doing it.
This is why I don't buy pre order or day one.Originally Posted by rachealmac Go to original post

If you think for a second they did this on purpose and that there is ANY reason for it, you are sorely mistaken friend.
Testing the game is the ENTIRE PURPOSE for a Quality Assurance team.. it is the reason that the position EXISTS.
If a company with the size and wealth of ubisoft can't afford to have a reasonable sized QA team to isolate and work with the dev team to squash the bugs in a triple A title (apparently) such as this, then what does that say for any other game studio out there with a fraction of money/resources that Ubi has?
Your last comment describes the whole purpose of an alpha and beta phase of game development. I'd suggest you educate yourself on how games are made before you blindly take the side of a developer and publisher who knowingly released an unfinished game and then continued to charge a FULL price for its AND threw in game purchases in it to boot (this to me is still unthinkable) which I might add don't even work.
No offense to you personally, honestly, but you need to get real if you actually are going to stand with Ubi on this farce. They dropped this game and now its "released" to the public and its rightfully getting ripped to pieces.
Do the crime, and now they will do the time.. and the time will not be friendly on them.
Gave me a MASSIVE laugh! ThanksOriginally Posted by rachealmac Go to original post
Anyway, Those who haven't bought Unity yet, don't. I'm holding off (though I would like to play it, they aren't getting my money this way) and others should do as well. Just wait until it's a good bit cheaper. The Steam winter/Christmas sale is coming up soon, it'll probably be at least %20 off.
