Once I tried out the IGE in FC2, I became hooked. Each map I made drew me more and more in the FC series. I was amazed by all the great maps that people created and soon became a fan of certain mappers. I loved the layouts of maps made by Dumptruck and Shortbull, the creativity of DeathWeapon and a host of others who spent hundreds (maybe thousands) of hours making maps for everyone's enjoyment. But the biggest enjoyment of all (for a mapper), was playing alongside others (full lobby's were ideal) in your map and feeling proud of what you accomplished. The community of mappers were the heart of this franchise. I stumbled into the editor on FC2 in 2012 and was hosting full lobbies on a regular basis (on a game that came out in 2008). Since then, I've met alot of great (and not so great) mappers and dedicated thousands of hours of my life to this game and feel like I just lost a family member. Yes, I can still make maps in FC4 (singleplayer and Co-op) but for me, it's the experience of playing in maps created by you (or others) with many people that creates the experience that most mappers enjoy. I think Ubisoft should hear everyone's story on this topic. Please post some of your reasons why losing MP IGE feels like a dagger in the heart for this franchise. Just maybe, these reasons/stories will help revive the game/experience that got us hooked in the first place.

I'll take you up on this, my friend. I have been developing maps for the Far Cry franchise ever since Far Cry Instincts was released for consoles. I even bought Far Cry Instincts: Evolution solely for the addition of ziplines in the map editor, and I recreated all of my Far Cry Instincts maps with minor tweaks. These games came out when I was in college, and I remember I would spend all day creating a map and then forced my roommates to play it multiple times that night.
When Far Cry 2 was announced, I immediately pre-ordered it for the updated map editor. I even bought and read a text book on effective PvP map design for FPS to inspire my maps. Promoting my maps on Far Cry 2 was the last time I used these forums until the very very disappointing news that Far Cry 4 will not have a PvP editor. (Far Cry 3 came out at a bad time for me and I was never able to make maps for that game). In preparation for the implied PvP multiplayer maps I even sketched out two team deathmatch maps on paper that I was going to develop as soon as I received my pre-ordered copy of Far Cry 4. With this disappointing news I have canceled my pre-order.
Why is PvP important? There are a few reasons. The first is that playing with a large amount of people in a competitive PvP environment on a map you made is very rewarding. But there is more than that. In a competitive PvP environment, every part of a map is important and makes a tactical difference. Every feature effects balance, accessibility, directional awareness, fun, etc. I think these things are far less important in a single player map. Making a balanced PvP arena provides unique gameplay that can not be replicated in single player mode.
Hence without a PvP map editor the magic of the map editor is lost or at the very least severely diminished.

Look at the silence around here too. No words from Mods. No words from ComDevs. A true indication that Ubi cares not for us, but for your money. They werent going to be telling us this, otherwise. Just like the AC:Unity embargo. They want your MONEY first. And THEN you get to find out its a crap product.
You're all sketchy, Ubisoft. And Ill have no part of it. This has hit Reddit. It's hitting NeoGAF. And soon, it's hitting mainstream outlets. It's my sole mission to get the word of this dishonesty out in the wild. Its not THAT they removed this. Its that they stayed PURPOSELY SILENT about it to score our cash!
Quoted for truth!! I see you out there brother. How about Alex's feeble (oh we may try to include it post launch, but no promises) junk. Wow, I kind of hope this game flopps hard just so Alex is not at the helm of another game. Alex has much more say than he is letting on. You could have been up front when we were asking. Remember the crappy Q&A where they only answered the most goofy questions asked. Yeah, I should have known better.Originally Posted by legacyzero Go to original post
Hi all and hi Manlius man, hows it going.. So Ive never felt compelled to post on here but feel as a customer who has spent a fair amout of cash on ubisoft games over the years, talking about since the original rayman here, that ubi are massively underestimating how many people are attracted to the series on the merits of the editor and a decent multiplayer experience. I ve bought all the fc games but didn't publish a map on 2 as by the time i picked it up ( mainly to get back to grips with the editor ) far cry 3 was on the horizon and I could surely devote creation time to that with its no doubt much imprroved ige .. no? But then they done @#!%ed it up tbh.. Now I convinced at least 6 or 7 possibly more of my creative friends from modnation to get it with my constant" You gotta get this game ! Its gonna be friggin epic , create anything, host with your maps, make races, ect. ect. nag nag ... ) and guess what... none of us pubished a single thing because of the shortsighted and frankly inane set up around multiplayer and forced inpositions on the editor. We didn't not make stuff because its " too hard to get to grips with '' or " I'd rather play single player '' but instead '' why put possibly 50hrs + and passion into a creation you cant share and enjoy outside your group '' Those same friends will not be nagged again.. If ubisoft was the forward thinking artisans they once where then they would realise they could build a massive and profitable community around the multiplayer experience where shared creatively and freedom of play and concepts is encouraged in every way, not quashed. Modnation racers approach to online play, share and create would be a great place for ubi to take inspiration from, a huge and very longlasting community formed and it was driven by the set up being conducive to people being able to get together from many different groups and share and enjoy the fun of playing in a online space dominated by creativity. Now .. ubisoft's focus is obviously on money and money is to be made from creator dlc, mnr released many creator packs, I personally spent twice as much on the dlc as the game and am not exaggerating when i say I knew100's and came across 1000's of players who had probably spent a whole lotta cash too.. It must have made them a ton of money. The money is there ubi.. Please see that
It is not Alex who makes these decisions, he's the Creative director to the SP part of the Game, any IGE related decisions are not down to him, I think people need to stop pointing the finger at Alex as he has been one of the only members of the Dev team to open up about the game and tell the Community as much information about the game as he is allowed. Can we not appreciate a member of staff for doing that for us instead of blame him for every decision made on the game.Originally Posted by TEMPLERTV Go to original post
This is my issue with the community, they point fingers at the wrong people, which results in those people moving away from the franchise when all they are doing is trying their best to interact with the community and give out information. Yet he gets all the Backlash off the community.
Uhh .. sorry for the wall of text.. Its just I and Im sure many other just get hacked off when a once great company who could still be just seem to just care about getting people in thier financial pockets.. ubi's and many other ''big'' game companies new mantra seems to be " Who cares about community when your stupid enough to just give us money ''
