The guy who made the map editor, in that interview said most people that use the map editor dont make multiplayer maps. they just make mess around style maps. lets see if this is true. question why do you use the map editor.
1 - i use it to make multiplayer maps
2 - i use it only to make mess around/free roam/chillout maps/pointless maps/maps that i can only play on my own.
My answer is 1 whats yours.
Option 1 ofcourse, just like most here on this forum.
That statement is just another misread on the situation, i guess. Many who just messed around with the editor played with the animals and the vehicles and realized when they were finished they could not publish their map. Its not that they didnt want it, its that they didnt couldnt make it into a multiplayer map.
For me, and most other serious mappers, its obviously 1
Was there plenty of pointless maps in FC3, yes because no one could easily play the MP and set up a match with a playlist of your/your friends maps! The fact that 'most' of the maps were pointless goof off maps can simply be attributed to the broken MP system in FC3. If FC3 had a lobby system with dedicated servers like FC2, Ubi would have seen a hell of a lot more 'serious' MP maps.
I made somewhere around 80 maps in FC2, and was mapping in that game right up until release of FC3. Many others were still doing the same, and still are! Yes FC2 had some good off maps like the 'drive your car down the hill and see how far you can jump it', but the bulk were people trying to make a good MP experience. Some were better than others, but the net result was trying to have an awesome MP experience, and overall it was pretty awesome!
What good is an amazing IGE with a broken MP? None really. Using it to make SP maps is nice, but should only be an option B. Option A should be MP maps with dedicated servers and playlists like FC2, with host being able to set options like FC2 (more would be better though beggars cant be choosers)
We have 1 week left. Some will buy the game day one. I will let them tell me if the game gives the community what it needs before I throw down my hard earned dough. Till then, itll be GTA5, because they HAVE given the community what its always desired in the series, FPS and more creator tools.
Multiplayer arena's excite me. I'm that kid who was ALWAYS making maps in the TimeSplitters games to play against bots. I was always looking for the best ways to be creative.
Then I found FC:IP, and fell in LOVE. I like making tribute maps, and original maps just to watch people play in them, and then get their feedback. Would be a tragedy if FC4 didnt allow me to do it too![]()

I made around 20 maps with the Far Cry 2 map editor before Far Cry 3 came out. Then I made 3 maps with the Far Cry 3 editor before I realised that the MP was already dead thanks to the horrible matchmaking(I also stopped because the editor crashed every 20 minutes on my new PC, ironically after a patch where they fixed the "editor crashes"..........
). Then I made 2 more maps for Far Cry 2.
