Well reading into the wording from that link above I am still hopeful that we will get a way to play User made Maps in some form of multiplayer.
Back in May, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that Far Cry 4 will have "a lot more multiplayer" than Far Cry 3, and the latest trailer does indeed make it look more involved than what we've seen in previous Far Cry games.
According to the PlayStation Blog, The Battles of Kyrat multiplayer mode is set up as a re-telling of a war that took between The Rakshasa, Pagan Min’s elite guard, and the Golden Path rebellion.
The PVP appears to be tied into the main game as it says above, could we end up getting something totally different for User Created Content (MP Maps) where both teams will just be normal / standard as in other Far Cry games ? with a way to host them in Standard modes ?
When Alex Hutchinson was asked "So we can make our own multiplayer maps and Single player mission maps" his answer was "Yes" (maybe he got it wrong)
Also I remember watching one of many interviews where the interviewer tried to get some info out of him reference multiplayer, I am sure it wa more than one occasion that he said they had something new that was different and asymmetrical but the game would also come with the Standard mode (Mode = 1, it was Mode not Modes he said in the video)
And if Far Cry 4 is to have a lot more multiplayer than FC3 it only has 3 modes plus the DLC mode which makes 4 - And FC3 had 4 modes so are they saying more DLC or maybe there is some different form of MP for user made maps.
I could be wrong and probably am, but still holding out because I really can't see us not been able to make MP Maps with the editor, FarCry has always been about that.
It sounds like there is some info coming on the map editor - Soon must be in less than 15 days so hopefully w will hear something before next weekend.
Now would be a good time for us to find out Yes or No if we can make MP maps in FC4.
Also reference the 5v5 - I am sure it is a gut wrench to a lot, you want to try Destiny, most game modes are 3v3 in that game but the maps are small I admit, There is a couple of modes that allow 6v6 but that is the maximum number of players.
MP custom maps would be useless without dedicated servers or at least a server browser anyway. In FC3, custom maps could only be played with people on your friends list, which was a joke. Also, the only reason they have made the player count 5 vs 5, because p2p connections can't handle high player counts. FC2 had 8 vs 8 for gods sake. I'm sure single player of FC4 will be awesome, but anyone who has high hopes for mp is setting himself/herself up for huge disappointment.
See this could be a strategic move, to get more lobbies going, I don't like the idea myself, but the thought that it could create quicker matches to set up and play, it may just be worth it.Originally Posted by usmovers_02 Go to original post
I think the best way of telling if it is a good choice or not is waiting until the game actually releases.
I do like your level headness and optimism. By all accounts the MP could still be pretty fun.
I've said it before, they are only putting forth a multiplayer so it makes the back of the case look prettier. I actually like smaller player sizes vs garbage like battlefield or ground war in call of duty. Im more of a socom or crime scene bloodshot guy. I would have pre ordered FC4 if they had admitted FC3 was a disaster and showed ways in which they aimed to improve the experience. I believe the last 3 times, (3 seperate months,) I tried to finish one of my maps for the entire 20 minutes... I got to the end of the match once. The other two tries I disconnected or randomly died halfway through. We arent talking about a simple patch or two, they released a broken beta. Everything they have said is on repeat from 700 days ago.
I do love the idea of asymetrical multiplayer, (crime scene,) I love the editor I love far cry, but at this point, how can you be optimistic? They honestly dont care about 100 or even a 1000 hardcore far cry community guys leaving when 4 million new players will join in just to have their hand held while a villain spouts off fight club and dark knight quotes. Who can blame them for that? I only blame them for false advertising and oh yeah banning my map. Remember how cute it was though, we were all calmly asking and wondering when they would patch up FC3? So naive. Lets not make the same mistake if things continue to go southward.

Maybe I was totally wrong, this was posted a few days ago but I think it is text from an earlier article from weeks ago.
There’s still much to be revealed about FC4, even as we’re just a couple of weeks away from release. Very little has been said about multiplayer, for instance.
“I can tell you that it’s completely asymmetrical,” offers Ouellette. “Red Storm in North Carolina is taking care of it. They are the guys behind the original Rainbow Six. They are really experienced with multiplayer games, so it’s really looking good.
Ouellette compares it to the popular Spy vs Merc mode in Splinter Cell, which pitted sneaky but weak spies against powerful but limited mercs.
You are correct though there are maybe a couple of hundred hardcore map makers if that, If Far Cry 4 does not allow MP Created Maps sure it will be a big blow to the few thousand that loved playing them, but at the same time if the editor is as easy as they are saying to use then I can see 10 times that amount getting involved in creating these Single Player Mission style maps.
Some of us will evolve and move in that direction and others will simply walk away and choose different games, as for the Multiplayer it could be a total stinker or it could be really fun and different - maybe a breath of fresh air from all the stale crap that churns out every year with so many companies afraid to try something new.
Then again people are going crazy at the thought of playing as a zombie in multiplayer on this new COD game.
It could be that those Escape maps you make Wni0 - some might do them as SP Mission maps, that Extraction get from A to B sounds perfect for them, I am still hoping we can make MP maps but that's my heart talking and not my head - lets see what info comes out this week if any.
Yea I agree completely. In fact, if they made a seamless integration between the editor and the multiplayer, and implemented some form of value to playing a match or making a map, it could be even more popular than 10x. I mean they are sitting on a goldmine. Why do people love Little Big Planet / Trials / Minecraft? Its because its so damn easy to make and share with others. FC4 has that next gen shine, and its a first person shooter, those other games are arcadey and cartoony, (project spark,) /// if I was on the edge of buying advanced warfare or far cry 4, and I saw a youtube video of 10 noobs fall into a labyrinth of 200 tigers and death traps galore, and get ripped to shreds in glorious next gen goodness I don't think I would wait too long to choose. Just make it insane! sigh. So much potential.
I prefer PvP over PvE but it's great when a game offers a rich experience in both. But with only 5v5 and no other modes such as team DM, single DM, etc. then this will quickly get repetitive. Hell, look at the flak Bungie received with their PvP offering in Destiny and they had 4 PvP modes instead of just 1.
I understand what you're saying dapper but I already know if it was a good choice or not. A) 5v5 completely removes the possibility of large maps and B) TDM is by far my favorite mode. I like the purity of it but that's gone.Originally Posted by DapperHayden007 Go to original post
Yes that may be a problem, large maps. However I think it adds an opportunity to make larger maps work better through map design, not to mention by the look of these game modes, you always have a target to get to, thus creating a place where most players are going to approach no matter of the size of the map.Originally Posted by usmovers_02 Go to original post
Also we have vehicles back so on larger maps we can get to the other side of the map much faster than Far Cry 3.
I just have to say that the In Game Editor character is the same as the Character in MP and SP this time so escape mappers shouldn't have a problem with making them sorts of maps again and it is possible to make an escape map again. I can confirm other things very soon. I will confirm everything I know in a few days / week hopefully.
