Well my friends and family, with not one but TWO epic failures that we're facing, that being FC3 and FC4, is it time to revive the one and only game that has brought us joy? Hard to believe that 9 years and TWO generations later this is where we are. Most would think that we would have the ULTIMATE FC experience by now, not one that just appeases the ranked competitive fans, but one that caters to both the hardcore and the laid back fans. One that would allow clans to take on others in a die hard MP experience, and one that also allows FRIENDS to make maps and share them with other FRIENDS that just want to run and gun with each other without RESTRICTION. Even though FCIP had it's restriction in the editor, it still had more game modes for MP and you had FREEDOM to make maps that played your way! What is the point of adding the beloved map editor if we have no freedom or government over how they're played? It's like giving a group of children the freedom to create a full playground with all the toys, monkeybars, tornado slides and basketball hoops they could ever want and then once it's done saying they can ONLY play Tetherball! What a rip off!
So with that said, I know that no one is dying to dust off that copy of PRED, but does it seem a little silly to anyone else that an age old game like that seems decades ahead of what we're faced with now? I hope someone is on my side about this. I'm extremely disappointed in the MP reveal and the lack of modes and especially the lack of generic modes like DM and TDM. And I'm even more upset with the lack of info on UBI's part when we ask about the editor and making MP maps with standard modes. Is it time to give up on an old friend? Maybe so. But if that's the case, always know I have my copy of PRED ready to go whenever you are!

That's awesome! It would be fun to play online, but there are those annoying players who prone and jump.Originally Posted by xRaDRoacHx Go to original post
Many people in the game industry seem somehow afraid to give their players too much freedom or too many tools (editor) to build maps themselves. All because they seem afraid we won't buy their future games or DLC because we are too busy playing maps created by other players and/or not be interested in the DLC they might want to publish for the game. Because with DLC they would generate money, but with player generated maps they would not make money. At least that is their thought I believe.
So instead of finding a way to make money on player generated maps, they just decide to limit the possibilities of player generated maps. It is a simplistic way of thinking and born out of being scared not to have future sales. I think if they would create something like the Appstore from Apple (a Mapstore maybe) where players can earn some money with maps they created and a percentage or 50% of the sales goes to Ubisoft it would highly increase the popularity of the game and sales of the original game. And it would cost Ubisoft nothing as it is the players with their maps who generate these sales. And people would do their best to create great maps, because the better the maps, the more money and fame they could generate. It would still be a good place for Ubisoft to try and sell their DLC via that as well, because Ubisoft created maps would probably look better, play better because they have more time and resources to build maps.
If Ubisoft then brings out a new IP or new FarCry 5 or whatever people will be enthusiastic to go and build maps for that new game as well. My thoughts are that the game industry is afraid that players will stick to the old game instead of buying the new games. I think they are wrong with that thought, because Ubisoft would be in control of the mapstore, so they could control themselves for how long people could still create and sell maps for older games.
This is just my thoughts as to why the game industry is acting like they are. I do hope they will do something with the solution I gave them or at least give it some thought as I do think it could very well work for their games and create not only more sales, more money and more popularity now and in the future. And in the end that is what publishers want, or should want.
I don't think it would work emrdesign but it is a good idea in some ways.
How would you decide if a map were good because so far no ratings system has properly worked in any of the Far Cry games.
If you are told a map is good and the ratings say it is good and you purchase to find the map is garbage then how many times would you want to repeat that process when it is costing you - and honestly The Ubi Recommended and Ranked and Gold etc etc has not always had the best maps, some have been excellent but some have been appalling.
SICK is correct Far Cry Instincts Predator has had the best MP modes over all the Far Cry games so far, FC2's Uprising was dreadful but could have been a really good mode with some simple changes, Capture The Diamond was not a patch on Steal The Sample.
FireStorm in FC3 was a gimmick and a mess of a mode, Transmission was dull and boring when that also could have been a really fun mode to play.
I can't comment on FC4s as I have not played it but FCIP was so superior in the modes it had and how they played, also that game had 16 players and you could have 12 vehicles in user made maps, it had ziplines and weapon placement - None of this healing crap, it was old school and fun.
If they could ever make a Far Cry game with everything the fans wanted then I would not have a problem paying a monthly fee to play online if the price was right because I would not be playing many other games so it would be worth it to me.
SICK I gave my 360 away so unless they do a FCIP Ultimate HD Version on all consoles I can't see me been able to join the party - sorry.
