Hi,
The Phantom is amazing without any upgrade. I would say it is my favorite bike. With 3/3/3/3 I was able to catch platinum.
But considering the high cost of upgrading (coins and parts), does it worth it? Or should I invest in Berserker (6,7,7,7) ?
What I find annoying is upgrading Tier III bikes is quite expensive and yet not so much tracks.
Thanks.
It's better to invest your parts and coins in the Agility bikes. There are rare cases when a Speed bike is best (The Cave, The Lift, Lookout Point, Burning Bushes, and a few others), but the Tango, Mantis, and Berserker are the best to upgrade.
If you really like the Phantom, by all means play the Phantom; it can get the job done up to Platinum. But if you are chasing top positions in the track leaderboards.... its the Berzerker (and other Agile bikes) who will get you there 95% of the time. Just check the top 20 LB of all Tier3 tracks for confirmation. There are a couple of tracks where you will see Phantoms in the top 20 (usually you can look for DumpTruck; he loves Speed bikes) and when you do see them there, you know you can do well there if you try hard. But really... your chances of a good return on investment isnt as high with Phantom as it is with Berzerker.
I start seriously upgrading a Tier Speed Bike right after finish upgrading that Tiers Agile bike. The "balanced bikes" (riptide, jackal, etc).... are balanced at everything... but its more truthful to say they arent really GOOD at ANYTHING... and are at the bottom of my list every time.![]()
Balance bikes they very useful for one tire jump, cause they bounce really good.Originally Posted by xitooner Go to original post
be that as it may, there are no iOS WRs held by a balance bike. they are unequivocally worse than either of the other two optionsOriginally Posted by mkbennani Go to original post
i didn't say they are the best kind of bikes, and i think they are not included for no reason.Originally Posted by Ch4er0n Go to original post
They are the first bikes you tend to get for each Tier through the quests. In some cases (Riptide is a good example) RL forces you to invest 2-3 levels of upgrades in them using quests. They are adequate for quests, but RL knows very well that the other bikes are better once you are beyond that. . .and that eventually you will have to invest time/gems/money into the Agile/Speed bikes. So... the balanced bikes are solely there to give you something to invest in first, and its all a part of eventually getting you to have to spend/invest more. That is always RL's ultimate goal; to get you to spend.Originally Posted by mkbennani Go to original post
(yes, I am a cynical person)
Just one question, why they are named balance bikes and what they are good to ?
I think that they are balanced in the meaning of the capabilities.
For example, speed bikes have high speed but less acceleration and very low level of agility and grip. Agile bikes have very high acceleration and agility but less top speed and balanced grip. Balanced bikes have nearly the same level for speed, acceleration, agility and grip.
Balanced bikes are good to finish the story line.
There is a chance that Phantoms aren't in the top 20 simply because everyone thinks like xitooner and upgrades their agile bikes first, and just haven't gotten around to upgrading the Phantom.
