I'm posting this for a friend, who want to buy FC4 on an old gen console, and is really interested in the co-op element of the game..
But since we have (yet) no informations about the old gen versions, I wasn't able to answer these questions.
- The main question being : Will FC4 old gen, PS3 and Xbox360, have a fully open world co-op?
- Will it be similar to new gen version ? (i.e animals, activities, etc) Or is there something that had to be cut in order for Co-op to work? (maybe less animals, less AI ?)
- Can both players be far away from each other, or are they limited in term of the distance they can put between each other (for technical limitations reasons) ?
Thank you in advance for answering these.
So, I'm pretty sure they've said that from a content stand-point, the past gen versions have everything the new versions have, which would mean yes, the open-world coop is still there. Yes, you are tethered to a certain proximity of your coop partner, in one of the youtube vids I saw he got a warning he was getting to far away and was teleported to the other player who was flying away in the gyrocopter. The last gen versions does have fewer encounters/ more sparse distribution of AI just because of reduced memory of the system, I think Alex Hutchinson said there will be fewer encounters in the open world on last-gen versions (I simply inferred that as fewer animals/ AI's/ Karma events etc) so... yeah, hope that helps..
Oh ok thank you. That's what I thought but wasn't sure.Originally Posted by HorTyS Go to original post
And I didn't see this video you talk of, but I trust you ^^
I went & found the video that shows the coop teleporting function. It happens within the first 2 minutes of this vid, so if thats all you're interested it'll be easy to find.Originally Posted by FR_Player-One Go to original post
I certainly hope that distance warning thing isn't there on PC / current-gen stuff, I could easily load up the FC3 campaign map in 4-player coop and have all players wander wherever they wanted without a single problem (except for the fact when you got 3.5 km away from the origin, on the positive scale, players desynchronized.)Originally Posted by HorTyS Go to original post
Well the vid where the warning happens that I posted above is of the ps4 version, so it's on the next-gen console version at least. I'm not to bummed about it, it does seem you can be a pretty decent distance away from one another. What would be the point of having 2 players when you're on opposite ends of the map?Originally Posted by razorfinnish Go to original post
Taking out multiple outposts at the same time maybe ? Things like that.Originally Posted by HorTyS Go to original post
So playing co-op, yet doing outposts solo... the point of that is....? It just seems to defeat the whole point of having another player there, because I don't think the player who joins your game gets the benefit of the outposts being liberated in his game, he just gets money & XP from my understanding.... and that would mean the host player would have fewer outposts to take over, aka, LESS of the game to enjoy... it just seems a very backward and fruitless activity to me, but...Originally Posted by FR_Player-One Go to original post![]()
The point would be that you can, if you want.Originally Posted by HorTyS Go to original post
Not saying that it would be the main interest to have coop, obviously.
But if you're playing with a friend, and you two decide you wanna take as much outposts as possible in a certain time, either as a challenge, or during a second playthrough, or if he helped you the first time with your outposts, and you go help him next but he don't want to bother re-doing the same outposts again and wanna go quicker... etc.. whatever reason.
Just that you can if you want.
Well hey man, I noticed you said the question was for a friend, so if you're on current-gen, we should play co-op when the game is out. I mean, yeah we won't be able to get super far away from eachother, but if you wanna play coop sometime I'll be down for it...Originally Posted by FR_Player-One Go to original post
