Against my better judgement I just have this feeling that there's no way they can screw it up yet again and that we're going to get the answers we want tomorrow. Of course logic tells me there's no way that's going to happen but my gut tells me tomorrow is gonna kick ***. Fingers crossed.
I love your damned franchise Ubisoft. Now if you could just stop being a [edit] [edit] that'd be great.
Yes.. I wonder why optimism does persevere? I ask myself that. I think because we can see that in the hands of developers that take due care and time, all that makes the SP robust could make for a strong and unusual MP experience. Maybe this is after all the wrong game to look at and expect that? The map editor just makes it all the harder. All that effort, all that possibility, and bundled with a non-multiplayer focussed title. Perhaps it is just ticks on the box after all..
Tomorrow brings answers of a kind. But surely it has to be a foregone conclusion no? Not a sniff of it until a few weeks before launch. A cagey hands-on for the press as always.. this cannot be something their proud of right?
If they are unwilling to open the dialogue and treat fans of the multiplayer (specifically!) with respect, then I can admire their progresses, but be pre-warned to look elsewhere. I am kind of expecting my Far Cry radar to switch off for good tomorrow.. let's hope it doesn't.
Censor the censored words, you're a genius Shade.
Anyway, I can't wait for tomorrow... After the disappointments Ubisoft gave me, I hope they finally learned the lesson, but I still believe that the multiplayer in this game will be the fifth wheel as always.
I hope that tomorrow we will know more informations, other than just a video showing the multiplayer.

FC multiplayer has always been an add-on to the main feature. It's what they get done after they have the SP ready to go. The map editor even sets below the MP on the priority list. There is a mad rush to get these things working before it goes gold. Since day 1 patches are the norm now we'll probably get a big one with last minute MP fixes.
Unfortunately, it's shaping up for a FC3 level of disappointment for MP. I think its safe to assume dedicated servers are gone for good. Its all P2P, which brings back awful memories of host migration and atrocious netcode. There will be a similar hosting setup - no playlists and no browser. You will need to host maps one at a time and invite friends to play. No beta means you are all beta testers that are paying for the privilege.
There's a chance I'm wrong about it all, but this isn't my first rodeo with Ubi.
Thanks man. Yeah rodeo is right.. SADDLE UP BOYS!Originally Posted by x_maxpower Go to original post
Actually aside from all the things people want, that may or may not be achievable, I believe the one issue that shouldn't have been shielded - is the issue of discrepancy. This is a cross-gen title. That either means MP developers work twice as hard balancing it for different generations, or make one, hamstrung by the limitations of the old.
i think old gen will put limitations on player count, quality, map memory, vehicles, scale.. everything. Meaning this very likely won't be the next gen multiplayer we're waiting for. How can it be?
We'll get what works across all platforms. They won't build different maps for each platform..
I wouldn't be surprised if we get very 'tactical' sized matches for this reason. Even smaller than previous versions...hope I'm wrong.Originally Posted by Insistor Go to original post
