Informative post Shifty. As someone that casually visits the forums every now and then looking for info on upcoming features, what I mostly see is moderators toeing the company line and blaming/threatening the fans.
As someone that doesnt read every post and doesnt know the full background and roles of everyone involved. The impression I got from what I saw is a bunch of diehard fans that love the series naturally wanting more information and a bunch of staff at redlynx essentially giving them the one finger salute. There are a multitude of different ways you can frame the message of "we cant give you information" and the vibe I was personally getting was more of a "tough ****, deal with it" rather than a "we are doing our best, but arent allowed to".
Might be a good idea to consider messaging as I honestly thought you were all just straight up d-bags. While I still think whoever is making these decisions is rather incompetent, I at least get a better understanding of your guys' role now. While its likely you guys have explained this in this past, keep in mind alot of casual observers dont read every single post. Alot of what I see just looks like hollow placating and passive aggressive behavior.
Im sure you have to repeat yourselves alot and giving the abbreviated version is often tempting, but elaborating makes your position more relatable and instills a bit more confidence that you are actually listening to criticisms rather than patronizing everyone.
This is not intended to be nitpicking or patronising, but the people who have been responding are employees of Redlynx and will obviously "toe the company line" and post their own opinions when they can. Moderators (me) arent employed by Redlynx or Ubisoft and work voluntarily. If moderators are seen as toeing the company line, then it is because that is the opinion they have, not an employees "obligation".Originally Posted by BeardinUSA Go to original post
I'm guessing you're probably right. I know you're not a coder, but is this something that could possibly added to the Trials editor? Such as community building. Have 4 players in the room and just build...maybe one tester at a time for the track.Originally Posted by ShiftySamurai Go to original post
I know this has been mentioned before, but with the shareplay release, I was wondering if this could be a thought for a future Trials.
If anyone needs a test for a track, just message me if I'm on.
I was talking more about playing a track. I'm sure this feature could potentially be used to great ends in the editor, and I didn't even think of using it that way. It's not that I am saying the latency will be BAD, just that Trials riding typically favors a lag free (or as close as possible) environment.
Holy crap, VEGAS. That's a damned fine point. I want to see what people do with Share Play in the editor.
I think that share play will work great for team building, but won't be very good for testing tracks. I plugged my XB360 in my XB1 and even that small lag made trials unplayable. I'm guessing share play will introduce at least that amount of lag.
It would be great if PlayStation could somehow create a delay compensation where the host is delayed for a split second while the client connects, essentially meeting at the same time. I'm not explaining that very well... Kind of like both of you joining a separate server with the same amount of lag. That way, there would be no noticeable lag because you, the game and your friend would all have the same amount of lag.
