Need to decide. PS4 or Xbox One version?

Gameplay trumps everything. Yes, it does, but frame rate affects gameplay Mr Hutchinson. And I still don't know which version to get.

Even if the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Far Cry 4 end up running in different native resolutions, the differences will be negligible, he said. (Hutchinson)

To me that says the resolutions wont be the same. When devs say things like this and that they are "aiming for a certain resolution across all", well, I think we know how that usually pans out. So let's assume a lesser resolution for X1. I can deal with that. Frame rate though. A consistent 30fps or not? If not then why would I get the game with a lesser resolution that still has frame rate issues? Frame rate affects gameplay. So if my gameplay is going to be affected regardless of which format then it may as well look better during.

I'm not about to drop £40-£50 on both versions and pre-order them both when there's so many games coming out around that time. AC5 is obviously out. Next gen GTA V. Master Chief Collection. Dragon Age Inquisition. Sunset Overdrive next week. Etc.

What do you folks think? Or know?

Anything I say, I'm sure some will ignore

I have played some of the game on Xbox One - and it's a great looking game - very smooth frame rate, great textures and effects - unfortunately - I can't comment on the PS4 version, since I haven't played it but I wouldn't worry too much about major differences, the Xbox One version is a great looking and solid playing game - however I understand you might be concerned though.

That's my personal option - and i didn't see any FPS drops in the time I played - however i'm not a technical reviewer .

Digital foundry might do a head to head on it - however - I can't say if that will happen before the 18th

I'll buy it for a PS4 as I only have PS4.I don't think there will be really any differences between the two consoles.Only differences will probably be between PC and the consoles.

Well I played the Xbox One version and the PS4 version and they are both mostly the same. Both smooth and fine detail. It really depends on you. If your friends have one of those consoles and will get Far Cry 4 then I would definitely get it on that console. Hope this helps.

Surprisingly, the PC and the consoles are closely the same.

Oooof. Right, ok, well that's good to hear. I'd prefer to get it on X1 so I'll probably go for that. Although that will mean I'll miss out on the screenshot feature. I do wish MS would get their act together and get the screenshot feature out already. Although I could still be swayed towards the PS4 version if the game makes use of the touchpad???

From what I saw in videos I think that the touchpad is only being used for opening menus, infos, skills and etc.Don't think it's used for anything meaningful in gameplay.

Yeah, i'm guessing maybe at the most you can navigate the map with the touchpad like in blackflag...
