November 29 2012.
It has been 691 days since Far Cry 3 came out.
"Originally, the beta was planned to stress test the multiplayer portion of the game. However, thanks to our revised production timeline the beta was no longer required, and we're confident you will enjoy a complete multiplayer experience from day one."
Does this sort of response sound familiar? To me it sounds like every statement they have made so far regarding our questions towards Far Cry 4. 691 days of nothing, no actual response from the developers or an apology... "I'm not ashamed to admit that it was difficult to find maps. You needed a PHD to do it." "We're taking the opposite approach this time." <--- That isn't anything. That is pointing out a non issue in the grand scheme of things to fix and admit to. It would be like only apologizing for a seat warmer that doesnt work properly when a vehicles recall was due to a car ignition failure which killed 30 people.
If Ubisoft had built a robust Multiplayer with a seamless editor and browser for Far Cry 4 you know damn well they would have shown it. Its been all Single Player and Co Op news.
Hell, even if FC4 is the second coming of christ for multiplayer, I don't care, you have had no respect for your players, which in this day and age is not acceptable. Stop telling players how to play your game. Most people just want to have fun in multiplayer, with vehicles, friends, on their own maps... shooting, racing, exploring, escaping, whatever. If you really do feel important enough to tell and force players how to play, then make a **** robust ranking system and go hardcore. Non of this half a** crap in the last 691 days. I have said these things before. We all have said these things before. It's old news, but you lost a really good fan.
I am going back to FC2, because even if you kill those servers, I can still play LAN.
It's difficult to not have these feelings after Far Cry 3 (and really ANY Ubi game lately) because there is a real disconnect between Ubi and thei consumer. I really feel like they're not interested in my opinion, so much as my dollar. Yesterday's event prove that to me (Announcing a pricey Season Pass, and forcing folks to go and buy a magazine in order to find out about the Map Editor).
This is what rubs me the wrong way. While Activision and EA are shouting their multiplayer features from the heavens, Ubi is staying tight lipped for no good reason, and its frustrating.
I would buy a good Far Cry game over a Call of Duty game ANY DAY because of the depth it offers. Why squander the potential it has?
Yeah, I just picked up black ops at kmart for 10.00. maybe Farcry 4 in 6 months will be the same. Still not comitted to pick up my preorder at Gamestop.....2015 holds more new releases. I drop a pretty penny on this and it turns out to be a steaming pile of excramnet.....well I won't do it after FC3. I'll wait...can always put it on Evolve or the last Batman game, the Order or wait for FC3 to hit the PS Store in a year and get it for free. Ubi obviously does not care to give us any info, why should we care about getting this game?
Well at the very least it sound like the ability to make a proper SP map is a reality.
So, even if MP sucks we can make and share our own mini games, escape maps, race maps and more.
But takeing advantage of fan sites like battlemap.net might be more critical than ever to have your work shown off and appreciated. Thats why well be hosting contests regularly, and more than likely, our first contest will be for custom SP maps since at least thats confirmed...
Nexus isnt much of a Far Cry site specifically, tho. It'll be nice to have a Far Cry centric community/board for all of that to be discussed. Battlemaps already have a great foundation for all of that.Originally Posted by usmovers_02 Go to original post
I honestly won't care about SP mission, IMO they will get boring after some time.Originally Posted by akilyoung Go to original post
I have never completed the SP on FC2. It was more fun to get a group of people together and simply run a list of maps that we were able to download and play - Saving Private Ryan part 2, on Endor Moon, Big Jump, to name a few, the COD remakes were great too. It was just too much fun playing a private match with a dozen close friends from across the US, we did that every Friday night from 2100 hers until 0430hrs.
FC3 killed that. I hope that FC4 allows this to return with the MP and map editors – it was a lot of fun.
But nothing until 10/30/2014….let’s hope it’s good
I have completed the SP campaign and I loved it, I unfortunately came late to play multiplayer because in 2008 I had a modem that wasn't compatible to play on XBL, I played 3/4 matches on the 360 and when I moved to PC (3 years ago) I started to play it again and I was surprised to see people still playing it. I usually still play it sometimes, too bad I have lots of games to beat. Far Cry 2 for me is one of the best shooter ever made, the game had potential, too bad that some things were badly executed.Originally Posted by Imaganos Go to original post
