haha touché sarcasm maybe my opinion is harsh, but i just want to tell you what i honestly think.

tbh i think many people play customs by devs more often (even its a troll track) and start to enjoy it somehow. who would play any other mytrack for 3 days straight? no one, i guess and imo thats the point. i think the pro´s on 360 enjoy it, because they see you created it. but on xb1, ps4, pc? i dont think those guys will have the same "fun" like the guys on 360. you know what i mean?

i see the uplay recommended feed as a collection of the best tracks from all platforms and i cant imagine there is nothing better on 360. ok it was meant to be a joke / troll / whatever... but how long is this funny for anyone, who doesnt know what its all about? i would rather see your seflie simulator on uplay recommended! thats high quality + fun for everyone.

    cheers

I review and approve the Uplay pics every week.
Haha, my memory could be better. You're correct here.

It would get frustrating seeing some blah picks back in the day. All the Izez, man of fire, HanFray, picks were there every or every other week...and rightly so...phenomenal tracks. I had no issues with those picks, just some that were generic run of the mills tracks that did nothing fresh. Some guys wouldn't build for 6 months, then put out an average track...at best, it would then pop right up on the RL picks. Yeah, that would be irritating.

I think you guys need another feed. Trash's Gems. I pick 5 a week. 3 are my own, and 2 lucky unknown builders will also be featured there. Haha

Wow, gone against "everything" I've said on the streams? That's over 30 hours of editor talk. That would have to be one huge track to go against everything I've said on those streams. I can't even figure out which tracks you are talking about or which advice you think they go against.

Anyway I often say that the point of making tracks is to do what you want and have fun. The advice I give on the streams aren't "rules" they are ideas and of course there are always exceptions to anything. We rarely even talk about what makes good tracks because it's incredibly subjective. We talk about how to use the tools because what you do with them is up to you. Don't build tracks for us, build tracks for you. Building tracks should be fun, that's why I do it. I work on Trials related stuff all day every day and still when I go home I sometimes build tracks in Trials because I enjoy doing it. I don't build tracks to get likes, I don't build tracks to get downloads, I don't build tracks to get picks, I build tracks because I enjoy doing it. It's a game, that's what it should be all about.

We pick tracks for Uplay Recommended that we think players will enjoy. That's it. That could mean any number of things. Maybe the track is really awesome looking, maybe it has a really fun line, maybe it has something we've never even considered being possible in Trials, regardless the reasoning for picks is always different. Of course not all players will enjoy all tracks. It's simply not possible.

Guys, keep in mind, they standard pick 5 tracks a week, the "my track" is obviously a bonus that was added, if they didn't include that one, they wouldn't have ported 5+1 tracks, but 5. I also can't imagine porting that track took alot of their time since it's basic, so probably that's why it was added, and apperantly it was a 'semi'-request because alot of people where vocal about liking the track.

That said, it was never meant to be a quality track. While it might be a fun track, it doesn't really fit in with the other picks in my opinion, it is still just a very basic track. And I can see why some people see it negatively. Specially new builders can see this and think 'my track was better, but this was picked?' like what is happening. I also think while the "fun" part of a track is certainly important, there should still be a quality standard for picking tracks in that feed. If there was a "down the stairs" tracks and people where vocal about how "fun" it was, I can't image it being picked to be ported, ever.

Good picks, RL. Though compared to previous drops, this one had more easy, full on acceleration from start to finish kind of tracks than the rest, which had more hard, technical tracks. I personally prefer the hard, technical ones but thanks for the quality tracks regardless.

We try to have picks everyone can enjoy. Sometimes there might be more harder tracks, sometimes more easy, sometimes more balance between the two. It depends on what we have available. Glad you like the tracks even though they are a bit easy, you might enjoy next week's a bit more

    Bassline gets it.

However I would say the track is a bit basic but I still put effort into all the areas I look for in good tracks. The only thing I didn't do is spend tons of time on little details and I don't believe you need tons of detail to make a good track. It does help of course.

Shogun and I have different ideas when it comes to the more difficult tracks, but we try to keep things fairly fresh. There won't always be a hard track, but there should always be something for most people to enjoy and have some friendly competition on. It's not a Best of the Best situation, it's a "Yo, we dig these tracks, and we think you guys might as well".

@funktastic- You and I seem to have miscommunications a lot, so when I talk to you I try to be to the point and fairly direct. This can also be read as short tempered or harsh. I apologize for that. To be 100% honest, Uplay Recommended is exactly what I explained it as. They are tracks that people at RedLynx, a Ubisoft studio, enjoy, and tracks they recommend. It is very much a "We put what we like in this feed" situation. This has been the case with both Uplay Recommended and RedLynx Picks before them.

There are multiple feeds that show what the global Trials community likes as determined by the voting system. The Uplay Recommended and Featured sections are curated by the RL Community Team, most visible being Shogun and Myself, but others do a ton of work on it each week, and most people seem generally happy about how they work. It's probably not a system that will be changing soon.

Edit: Ninja'd by Shogun, also, there's an edit button.

I thought I had enough time to finally grind these tracks for real, but after spending almost an hour with the Brazil track I had to take a bit break Really liked the look of that track but I have to agree with Vegastrash that few of these camera angles tripped me few times. But overall really neat track, and I'm happy with my time. Now I only have to test the other ones..

On the flip side I think if that track had any other name we wouldn't be having this discussion. So far nobody has really said anything about what is wrong with the track besides the name being a joke. I welcome real criticism and so far besides bassline saying he thought it was a bit basic all the feedback I've gotten from players about the track has been very positive. The name of a track is the last thing that determines if it's any good or not.

I also disagree about #SelfieSimulator. I spent a long time on that and promoted the crap out of it with streams, tweets and videos but nobody played it once it was out. While you may respect what is being done there most players don't care. Since it's release I've gotten no positive feedback about the track and only 1 person has actually shared a selfie from it. Meanwhile on a platform with less players and nearly no promotion by me I was inundated with messages from people who loved MyTrack. I didn't even think people would play it and they proved me wrong by playing the crap out of it. Clearly #SelfieSimulator is much more impressive editor work, but MyTrack is much more enjoyable for players. Anyway porting #SelfieSimulator is basically impossible, it would take far too much time from the guy who actually ports the track. Even just updating the menus for Xbox and PC would take more time than he spends on most tracks not to mention getting it to run on X360. We'd rather have him spend his time on good community tracks. Like bassline guessed, MyTrack was pretty much no work at all for him and a bonus pick so it took nothing away from the community creations.

While the Uplay Recommended feed does feature tracks by many of the best builders the purpose of the feed is to provide good tracks to everyone. We need tracks that people besides pros can play, unfortunately many of the best builders are often building extreme or harder tracks. We need more easy/medium tracks and if you guys don't want to make them I'll do what I can to make sure everybody has something they can enjoy. If that means kicking out a fun little track over a free weekend, that's what I'll do.

When I make tracks I usually try to make tracks for all players. I often talk about the easy track with a speed run line. That's exactly what I tried to do with MyTrack and based on the feedback I got I did a good job. Skilled players had a blast playing it but beginners can still finish it. We've shared tracks like this in the past on Fusion and Evo. I remember an excellent track by Murdoc Loch on Evo that was very similar (don't remember the name). The details were basic but still well thought out. The line was easy but getting a good time was a bit more challenging. It didn't have crazy deco, it didn't have some high concept theme, it was basically some hills through nature but it still managed to be a great track and fun for way more players than most customs cater to.

Honestly I'd like to hear what you all think is so bad about the track but this isn't the place for feedback on one track. I made a thread for your feedback here http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...0#post10275600
