The map editor could really use some skybox options

After watching enough gameplay footage, It's hard not to notice the beautifull snow covered mountains that appear off in the distance. It would be great if we could add backgrounds such as these to our maps. It would help to break away from that "island" feel.

I agree, That is one thing that has always been bad with User Made Maps - either we hide the view with structures or terrain or have it as water or at worst the land ends with endless water surrounding us.

If we get skyboxes I think a lot of people will be happy - Skyboxes if we get them could also become a part of DLC as there are always people using different themes so some new items for the map editor and a skybox to go with them would be superb if it can be done.

I'm actually somewhat surprised it has yet to be added to map editor. I can't imagine it being too much of a task to implement.

It was when I finished making my Lake Tahoe inspired map in FC3 that I realized we could really benefit from such a thing. I was really pleased with how the level turned out but it was more of an ocean than a lake because of the skybox. The map's called Lake Lobo, if anyone's interested in checking it out on the 360.

YES! I would love to see a cityscape skybox. I would also love to scale object size and paint land mass in mid air like in Project Spark.

I think it would be cool if the clouds could be animated. Clouds that don't move don't quite look real. Also, for night time if there could be the odd shooting star. For backdrops, I think a space theme might be cool with large orbital asteroid belt, like Saturn. Or just random asteroids, stars and nebulas.

I suggest a seperate skybox editor for fc5 with lots of options.

First the skybox editor needs to have a massive plain that can be edited with the terrain tool just like the normal plain. Some realistic mountains in the distance does alot too a map so devide the poly's for an even more realistic look. Dont worry about the polycount coz in the end the mountain will be just an image. Good mountains take up space, the normal plain is too small for that.

Also you will have dynamic weather. Clouds need to move like mentioned above. Also i would like to see weather events in it like a snow storm, dust storm, thunderstorm, tornado's and hurricanes. For example,In bf4 you have a dust storm in the 2nd assault map oman , it really adds even more chaos to the game.

It would be cool if you can add events.Like random air plane stripes, goose flying over, shooting star, ufo flying over

Also there should be items like smoke collums, buildings , landmarks, atombomb explosion and ofcourse trees and bushes you can add in the seperate skybox.

Once you happy with the result, you snap a picture from all 6 sides and done. I would like to see such a tool in the future.

I think they will have some , because the editors grid size is to small. I know for a fact that making those huge mountains can take almost one fourth of the maps grid size. I hope they will make it at least 1024x1024 this time, So we can make bigger mountains or else this game is going to be just like farcry3,

Well considering a very large map was only 6-8 grid squares using the other 8-10 for background wasn't that big of a deal That being said I know many map makers including myself have been asking for skyboxes for a while... and Ubi has ignored us completely and totally.
