Far Cry 4 is one of this year’s most anticipated shooters and as such it will be going head to head against the likes of Halo and CoD as well as competing for the attention from Destiny players.
Ubisoft’s Creative Director of Far Cry 4 isn’t worried though, he seems to think Far Cry 4 will do just fine. In a reply to a fans concern over Halo and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare competing against Far Cry 4, Alex Hutchinson took some time to ease the worries and let everyone know that based on previous release dates everything will be fine.
Ron Heverly @ShotbyRon Cod and Halo both release b4 this game. Destiny is out now. It will take more then a good review.
Alex Hutchinson @BangBangClick
All three of those games (us included) have released alongside each other before and we've all done fine.
As well as reassuring fans that competition is good, the director also stated why Far Cry 4 won’t run at 1080p 60FPS.
dj_backbreaker @dj_backbreaker why not 1080p 60 fps
Alex Hutchinson @BangBangClick
We'd have to simplify the art, have less people or events on screen or make other sacrifices.
It may annoy some people that Far Cry 4 won’t run at the full 1080p 60fps, but it’s not the end of the world and if it means that we get a much richer world because of it, then I’m personally happy to overlook a few frames and pixels here and there.

The one game that will put a dent in sales of far cry 4 on ps4 and xbox one is GTA V. released the same day the 18th.
the effect of other games on fc4 sales below (only my opinion)
- destiny NONE (this game will go the same way as titanfall)
- halo VERY SMALL (the novelty factor will only last a few months)
- cod SMALL to MEDIUM (well cod is cod)
- gta v BIG (released on same day, how can it not have a big effect)
This is what I've been saying all alongOriginally Posted by AW LOST SOLDIER Go to original post
Keeping in mind what R* was able to pull off on the aging 360, I'm certain the Xbox 1 version will be mindblowing!
It's very interesting how many people I've talked to are actually getting it again for that reason...myself included.
They also have a 'Creator' which is getting lots of attention. Good MP game modes too.
I think they'll give Ubi a run for their money in the releases.
See GTA might be a threat, or it might not,
The thing is the games are completely different from each other, people have already played GTA, who's to say they will want to buy it all over again over a game that is just releasing.
I personally think it may have a small impact on sales of FC4, but the thing is even if it does, those people that want FC4 but chose GTA over it are probably still going to buy Far Cry 4 eventually, otherwise they wouldn't have thought about getting FC4 in the first place.
It's a hard discussion, but I can't see many sales of FC4 being affected in the long run,
Not to mention GTA and Far Cry are completely different games, if it was releasing same day as COD it might have been a bit more worrying, but even so not too bad
The price over here seems very high for GTA, I am on the fence in the same way that I am with The Last Of Us but that remake sold very well.
I did enjoy GTA but right now can't justify paying more for a remake than for a brand new game but would purchase it once the price drops just the same as I will pick up TLOU maybe after New Year.
Destiny is odd because sometimes you feel burned out then you jump back in and fall in love again, this game will get a lot of support and DLC so I honestly can't see it failing as quick as some of the other games, I have no issues at all getting in strikes or MP games on any mode - For anyone that is just going by some of the reviews and might not have purchased the game you could find that Destiny is more addictive and better than you think however as Drive Club is finding out Reviews are very dodgy these days because of players expectations and also those that simply want a game to fail either because it is on a rival platform or because it is not on their shopping list - The internet has changed a lot of things.
Halo Remake - I think this will do very well but it is tied to the XB1 where GTA is PS4 and (I think PC) also. But Halo always sells very well.
COD - I know people at work that spend their entire online lives playing this and no matter how different or bad it might get they will pick it up because they know no different.
FC4 - It depends on what they have done with the game, The Single Player I imagine will be just as fun but better than the last one, COOP and the gyrocopter will change some people into loving ity who were maybe unsure before.
With the Editor the way it was before I think some that just wanted to have fun might have struggled but if Alex Hutchinson is correct in what he said that there is also a single player mission style creator then that will be quite addictive to new comers to the game, if they can share and download other insane maps then I think some will get hooked.
Us that like the MP and Editor side, if they get a MP that plays well with good modes then it can build some momentum, FC4 is on 5 platforms so overall it should do very well but I can't see it selling better than Halo on the One - I think it will trail behind COD but could give GTA a run for its money - HOWEVER lets see 6 months to a year from now, If they have improved FC4 then it could keep selling at a steady pace where the others will hit their peak.
Fun and Addictiveness is what will do it for FC4 so lets hope that they have done a good job.
GTA V is boring and is not the same thing as it use to be! I am going with FC4! I want a game mix breed of L.A Noire & SWAT 4/TSS...Originally Posted by AW LOST SOLDIER Go to original post![]()
