@FALLEN CHAMP That is a good point with the update vs "but I have _____ downloads." Maybe just have an update applied to the map, so if you create Super Fun Map 1.0, and you want to fix a couple glitches and change the spawn locations, you can still have the downloads, but the next time you update it will be Super Fun Map 1.1 or... something like that.
Maybe they can allow for the map's maker to receive a vote? Instead of the map itself, allowing motivation for map updating.
I didn't mind the dedicated hosts they had in FCIP. It felt like it worked in the same way R* are doing verified jobs in GTA. If the devs actually hang around for a bit, they could showcase popular maps? Either way, I am excited for next gen's built-in video capture capabilities and hope to see a lot more vids of great maps.

You wont be alone in that....im sure most of use will be remaking maps that never got played in fc3, myself includedOriginally Posted by usmovers_02 Go to original post
I just don't see a happy ending with all the stats with maps, When they brought out the Recommended Maps in Far Cry 2 the community got more *****y, some maps got Ranked and the squabbling started again.
If a map is to be selected for any honor or praise then surely it should follow up with a few lines of text as to why it was chosen / what modes are best and what it's strengths are.
Problem is this takes time and resources and a small team would have to do that but surely it is better then just an image and map name which is what people got.
Problem is some actually believed that their map had been put through it's paces and was selected because it was simply that good but looking at some selections the reality was it got lucky or had a surge of downloads or times played that week - maybe had a good name or good pic with the map, or by a recognized builder or recommended by someone to them (whatever the reason) it did create some monsters at times.
There is nothing wrong with times downloaded but remember just because a map is downloaded it does not mean the person actually played the map and as for times played this does not indicate if the person stayed in the match for the full duration, It is the recommended / ranked / gold silver bronze dog poo things that I was not a big fan of because it caused too many issues IMO.
The days where you know a map is good because everyone is hosting and playing it online are gone - Far Cry became a selfish game, I would like to see things change but I can't see how it would happen.
I have to side with you on this one good sir. I have some pretty epic maps that I poured hours upon hours upon long nights creating (any level creator knows the beautiful tedium of this process) that I got to play for a few minutes here and there, because of the aforementioned piece of crap lobby and sharing system of FC3. I found myself revisiting FC2 often and looking at my map score and play count, nostalgic over better days of map making. If they drop the ball on this one, I will never buy another Ubisoft game again, for I have sliced my palm with a razor and made a blood pact with the pagan god Cerneunos... never Ubisoft.. never again.Originally Posted by usmovers_02 Go to original post
I am sure all of us who take time making a map would prefer to lock it if the map is a solo project, but I don't think they will give us the option.Originally Posted by Johnny2Fingerz Go to original post
Thing is we cant mess with their maps from the game - it isn't nice when people try to pass off another persons map as their own & although the original authors name is watermarked on the map those joining the game dont take any notice as most never check the maps in the editor
