I think this is a good addition, a chance for some builders to get into the spotlight and highlight their wares to the wider community.
Doesn't matter to me whether the builds are stagnant, animated, physics, whatever.Old builders or established. If they're good tracks they will hopefully get played and noticed, and the talent will be recognised.
@Pneumatic-Kush Land is a quality builder. Has been for a while. Good call.
@Kid, stagnant? You can always expect an addictive, fun track from yourself. Some of the best customs I've played have been by the Kidster. Just putting that out there.
Where IS Elmo at these days?
@funktastic, the 'multi-quote users' button is on the far bottom right.![]()
Two 360 builders I've enjoyed recently, whilst not previously being familiar with their work:-
RaketeAal397.
BlackBird.
Ugh. I had a nice long reply, filled with information. Then Chrome crashed.
If you want to see different builders being highlighted (we do too!) then please recommend some. There aren't a whole lot of us participating in this project, so it's a bit difficult to consistently find "new talent". I think this initial batch of builders is pretty damned solid. I don't think many of us had heard of bog before a few months ago (no offense, man!). We're all open to checking out tracks by builders that you all enjoy, but it would be really helpful if you could point them out to us.
Just read the post of funktastic- and he is not really wrong ...
1 creator per month mean "only" 12 creators in 1 year (for example), and i doubt there will be the same number of players in 1 year.
So the 12th best creator will get his awards in the 12th month right ? Why not simply add 3 best creators instead of 1 ? It would be better and there will be more creators
Or why not bring back the wrench and the creators who have the wrench get their creations directly in the featured feed (after a moderator check the tracks), just an idea.
My chrome was also doing the same when i was trying to upload vids earlier.
Anyway thats what i was saying that it was a good but it shouldnt be people we already know. I also want to clarify that my previous post was not amied at anyone in general , it wasn't thrown in bogs direction he was the first to reply and understood what i was saying that was all and for me he is a known top builder for the period i have been playing which isnt long. It was the names that was being thrown around that sounded that gave alarm. I doubt that there is many builders with the talent of bogs and a few others but wont name drop. Yet this is my point , it should be people whos tracks aren't the quality that they are but have signs that they could be with the right help and spotlight. Of course i also include my self in that list before you say it lol i would be daft not too but i am sure it doesnt take alot to play the tracks on tc and come up with some worth a look at that usually doesnt get seen. There is plenty of builders in tc , yes they dont have the talent of some but its giving something back to everyone who contributes. I could name a few that would be worthy people to be featured yet on what scale ? because the line as been set as to what bar you have to be at to gain entry and like you said there isnt many so its going to be all the same quality. I have said my piece and dont really wanna moan on any more but thought i would reply to you as it would have been ignorant not too..
I know one builder who is awsome , think is names funktastic muwahahahah
I now feel like a moaning old fart lol
rename the feed to "Featured Builders" and list all the good builders in there. by that you would just have to add more builders to the list (without a monthly restriction) and no need to remove something. imo this would be even better than the wrench iconsOriginally Posted by Jeruhnq Go to original post![]()
This is a much better idea. When the "preferred" builder/s make a track, it pops up there. I've mentioned this in another post. You can utilize the track central boxes much better than having 5 boxes for new tracks, but this does allow new tracks to be viewed for longer.Originally Posted by Core2TOM Go to original post
Why are only 8 tracks featured for the featured builder?
Not even the most highly rated ones. For HE92, the Limbo theme track isn't there ? This was a phenomenal track. Where a track like Physical Something is up there. This one was certainly not one of his best. I thought the theme and concept was great, but simply too dark to navigate. A minor oversight. This isn't a slight on the builder, but raises a better question of who....is deciding which tracks are featured?
Ubilynx does quite a few thing well, but this time around it seems they make a great improvement...such as 1000 tracks in the feed, then overlook simple things like having the majority of the builders library under featured. Also, having featured builders in general would allow for most versatility in the feature section. Why not pick 3 builders per month? By the time someone gets featured in month 11 of this...almost nobody will be playing this....as is almost the case now
The point is to highlight one builder each month. A builder who is doing awesome things (in our opinion) on Track Central. For this reason we will be changing them out each month. I would also like to point out that it isn't a single builder, it is a single builder on each platform. The Featured Builder is not cross-platform so in one year there will be 48 builders who have been featured.
There is plenty of builders in tc , yes they dont have the talent of some but its giving something back to everyone who contributes.Being a featured builder is up there with having a wrench in Trials Evolution. Players in Evo received this identifier when their creations were consistently of the highest quality as a way for players to know that if they played a track by a wrench holder, they were most likely going to see a track of an extremely high caliber. There are many feeds that show highly rated tracks, and everyone has the same chances in those feeds. If you make something awesome, then hopefully it makes it to the feeds. Why not pick 3 builders per month?
Featured Builder is something for people who constantly create custom tracks that are amazing. This does not mean that if you put out a few "stinkers" that you will never be able to make it into the Featured Builders feed.
I'm not sure I understand this question. We are all for featuring newer/unknown builders in both Featured Builder and Uplay Recommended feeds, we get really excited when we find something by a name that we haven't seen before that just blows us away. If you have recommendations, then let us know. But please keep in mind that we are looking for builders with close to 8 high quality tracks for Featured Builders.I could name a few that would be worthy people to be featured yet on what scale ?
Uplay Recommended suggestions can be just the creator/platform/track name.
It is going to be extremely difficult for most builders to make it to the Featured Builder feed. As I said earlier, for all platforms, over the course of the next year there will only be 44 (48 in total) builders selected. The bar is set insanely high but it can be reached with practice and taking the time to learn.because the line as been set as to what bar you have to be at to gain entry and like you said there isnt many so its going to be all the same quality.
I don't see your post as moaning, but more as feedback with concerns over how you see the Featured Builder feed. Feedback is encouraged.
Because we decided upon 8... The Limbo track is pretty good. It looks beautiful, but it's not one that we selected. There's not really a question as to who is deciding upon tracks. It's obviously RedLynx employees. The same ones who select most of what goes into Uplay Recommended, so if you don't like what we select for Uplay Recommended, you probably won't like what is in Featured Builders. Why are only 8 tracks featured for the featured builder?

Can't please everyone when it comes to subjective matter such as this.
It's not an oversight. We are showing tracks that we enjoy. If you also enjoy the sampling of tracks from the builder then you can always find more tracks by them.Ubilynx does quite a few thing well, but this time around it seems they make a great improvement...such as 1000 tracks in the feed, then overlook simple things like having the majority of the builders library under featured. So i was correct with my first asumption that its another place to show already featured builders and not as some have implied that it might be used for all. As in scale i meant how good and you asnwered my question that its going to be very hard and this place is for top quality people. Like recomended is and crossplatforming is. This does not encourage me to stick around in the slightest and frankly its totally unfair to say to a community that its ok if you progress s a builder then you might get a chance which is fine but to know that you have to wait over a year for even a chance to see some appreciation. I as a gamer who makes tracks keeps your game together and running. I paid cash for this game and its as good as anyones , there is nothing for builders who want to progresss. clapping for the same people all the time is nothing short of discrimination within a community. There is absoloutly nothing in this game that is aimed towards a person as new and so forth like my self , i want the same value for my money as the next i i dont feel like i am getting it. You have easy medium and hard tracks so why is this not the case with regards to track builders , beginners , moderate and top. Why do you have to be top quality to desreve a place in the spotlight ? some havent the chance or the time to progress like some have and to spend time learning and so forth so what is said to them. Tough !
Lke is said i was correct with my first assumption yet another place to feature the already featured its discriminating and unfair. Please would it be possible for one reason why you have to be a top quality builder to gain access to places that you have paid exactly more money for. Some people even spend moretime building and playing this game than some builders. I seem to think that its quality that is thought that runs a community when its not , quality is a small part of why people play games especially online ones.
I do my self no favours i just think its stupid to leave out people who make this game run
track centrals high percentage is of poor and morderate tracks yet these are the mojority who run this game for you so why leave these out and tell us we are not good enough to be placed anywhere

This might come off as stand-offish or short-tempered, but I'm really just trying to be clear with my answers. Please don't take offense.
Featured Builders is to highlight high quality content. There is no need for a Featured Builder to have tracks in Uplay Recommended. Yes, it is going to be hard to get a spot in Featured Builders. That's pretty much the point. For the most part these are people who have spent years learning the editor and frequently make amazing tracks. This is why they are featured. They regularly release content (for free) for everyone on their platform to play.Originally Posted by funktastic- Go to original post
The Uplay Recommended feed IS the cross platform feed. There is no other cross-platform feed.
Nobody said that decisions have been made for the Featured Builders for the next year, and quite honestly, they haven't. We haven't even made decisions for next month, let alone 10 months from now. There is definitely a chance that a new builder can step up and be featured in the near future.Originally Posted by funktastic- Go to original post
As for your second point: you did purchase the game, and you have access to the same things in the game as every other player. Stating that Featured Builders is discrimination against new players is the same as saying that the Leaderboards discriminate against new players. You can get only so much compared to what you give. If you spend the time learning how to control the bike and move quickly over obstacles, then you'll be higher ranked in the leaderboards.... if you learn the editor and "good flow" then you can EASILY get fans in the community who eagerly await your new tracks and submit nominations for them.
If you want a crash course in the editor our resident Shogun spent hundreds of hours making this video series that will help players grasp the basic (and advanced) editor techniques (available here).
Trials is a hard game. It takes practice to get better at many things in life, this is one of them. I don't see how you are not getting the same value for your money as people who have tracks selected for the 2 feeds curated by RedLynx. There are 9 feeds that currently showcase the highest rated and newest tracks by all members. All players, as long as they are connected to Track Central, have the same access to the content on their platform.Originally Posted by funktastic- Go to original post
Every track will be in the "Newest" feed for it's difficulty. Those tracks have a chance to be in the "Top Rated" feed for their game type. Awesome tracks have a shot at Uplay Recommended, and builders who make a bunch of awesome content have a chance of being in the Featured Builders feed. It's a progression. That is the process behind these feeds. It is not easy to make it to the Uplay Recommended Feed, and it is more difficult to make it to the Featured Builder feed.
Nobody with a Uplay Recommended or Featured Builder spot has gained access to any additional content. If anything, these guys have given every other player on their platform access to more high quality content. Which is why they are being featured. What would be unfair would be to intentionally overlook obviously amazing content because someone, somewhere, might feel bad about themselves because their work wasn't selected.Originally Posted by funktastic- Go to original post
Everyone has the possibility to have tracks featured if they practice building, this is not discrimination.
Everyone has the possibility to be a Featured Builder if they put in the time on multiple tracks, this is not discrimination.
Intentionally blocking builders from having their content highlighted because people may have previously heard of them... well, that IS discrimination.
It's basically a monthly competition with no tangible prize for the winner. Unfortunately, not everyone can win competitions.Originally Posted by funktastic- Go to original post
This is the reason it is important to highlight those who make tracks of such a high caliber. Tracks do not get removed because we don't think they are good enough, all tracks that follow the guidelines are available for every single person on that platform to play.Originally Posted by funktastic- Go to original post
I understand that you are not a fan of Featured Builders of the Month, or (it seems) Uplay Recommended, showing content that we at RedLynx think is awesome. But that is basically the whole point in these feeds, and we haven't received a whole lot of complaints on them.
Hard work of high quality is rewarded. Call me crazy, but that's how I think it should be.
