Hey,
You attitude about "I know better than you" is what makes it annoying. Though I want to spend some time to answer because it can help several people to understand better.
Other elements for thoughts:
- Shogun, Badger, Shifty are not only checking forums. checking tracks, broadcasting on Twitch. (they are not even working on Fusion only). "This doesn't take much time" is a shortcut I wouldn't take. Especially spread around 4 platforms. (and I believe the community doesn't know how awesome are these guys compared to other community devs)
- The opinion of 1 player (especially a core one) is not the opinion of all players. (that's about "supercross sharing" and "challenges and tricks")
- The leaderboard is a progressive system (the most robust actually, the one for core gamers.. Cash and XP is not about pleasing core gamers... they will enjoy grinding it and using the cash but that's not what will keep them playing). It doesn't mean we can't use it at some point, but it means what it does is good, we can extend it later. Just not the first priority right now.
- Making a game is not about putting things in the order we love them. And it's not about having ideas neither.
Regards,
Vegas, it is very time consuming coming up with 5 new RedLynx Picks each week on each platform. I think, and my discussions with Shogun and Blue seem to put them on the same page, is that if a track is good enough for RLP, then it's probably good enough for Uplay Recommended and being made cross platform.
Our goal with Uplay Recommended is to show people tracks that someone at RedLynx or Ubisoft, and works on Trials, likes. Are there going to be tracks that you don't like? Yes. Just like there are going to be tracks that I don't like that make it to the feeds. We have a ton of people that are putting up their selections (which is why there is a delay between pick selection and release), and just like TC moderation, who are we to say "No, person who works on this game, your opinion on what is a good track does not belong here". That's not going to happen, just like we aren't going to delete tracks because someone thinks they aren't up to a quality standard and they have been on the feeds for too long.
That's what your call for moderation sounds like to me. You want the tracks that you don't like removed from the feeds. Well, there is a reason that they are in the feeds. If you ever watch people playing Trials on a streaming service, then you'll notice that a lot of people rate tracks based on the fun they had, and not on lighting and theme, or even the driving line.
Sry I have to interrupt you both (Eno and Shifty) there for just a sec. Yeah those know it all are the best. But I have to agree with Vegas at one point only. You did really give a **** on this 50 site Fan Recommendation.
Picking Redlynx picks / Uplay picks (though I think it is weird that there are basically two of one kind; I know the difference but still) is not needed that much. I like exploring: Once a good the other time a bad track that is just part of the fun.
hey En0- & Shifty
a core fanbase is very important. those players care about the game quality much more than someone who plays the game just for a few days, so i think opinions of core players are kind of "more important". also i think the feedback you get about the game is 90% from core players (?)Originally Posted by En0- Go to original post
what i would like to see (in any game) is a poll with rating system in the menu to rate different aspects of the game to improve it. assassins creed 4 had something similar to rate singleplayer missions (5 stars rating) and imo this is a good way for the devs to get feedback from ALL players, not only from the core players on the forums. would be interessting to see what the majority of players think about fmx, panda, track central, ninjas, multiplayer etc. ... probably we will never get a system like that, but thats whats on my mind.
are you talking about Frontier or unannounced projects... maybe?Originally Posted by En0- Go to original post
hmm i cant agree with that. for sure thats how it should be, but for me it looks like many players, especially new players, just give a like on anything (tracks without obstacles, xp tracks, broken skillgames, other bad tracks etc) and dont even care about the rating at all... thats whats the op is all about.Originally Posted by ShiftySamurai Go to original post
It doesn't seem to me that we are disagreeing here. If the person is having fun then they add a like.Originally Posted by Core2TOM Go to original post
Except for me. It's rough when you stream, as people can get VERY ANGRY when you visibly & publicly dislike a track.
All we need is a editor tutorial training program :P
lesson 1: put this ramp on the driveline
lesson 2: a decoration object is not for driving purpose
lesson 3: see lesson 1 and 2
=============================================
for me trials fusion looks and plays great.
Ofcourse its not perfect, but they are working on it.
=============================================
My feedback for PC
1: replay speed is same as normal speed if u want to fastforward, (sound goes faster)
2: tournaments with an extreme tag shouldnt have beginner-medium-hard tracks in it. (7 non extreme and 1 extreme)
3: the mail notification could be of better use, like: Smilies2013 has release a new track, instead of getting 10 mails from 1 friend beating 1 track
4 :could use more bike/rider customisation
5: water color sometimes stays basic color when u put it inside something like a cave or crater, if i want it red color, it stays basic
6: if i use a hit trigger or any other filter, and scroll al the way to the next filter, after comfirming, the screen resets back to the first filter, normaly the screen stays where u are at.
================================================== ================================================== ===========================================
My idea (if possible)
When there is to much light in 1 area, u get a red warning
when there is to much physic in 1 area u get a red warning
Maybe add: An ramp isnt placed correctly on the driveline
and decoration object is blocking the driveline
There is a difrent between objects and decoration objects, and i see in trackcentral that some make tracks just out rocks/cliffs etc
On your streams u say that everytime, but it just seem to not get to them.
I play video games sinds the first videogame ever came out, in 1978 if im correct
And i have never seen this much communication between devs and players.
Most games dont even give a damn about communication, so thumbs up for the community people who streaming and answering questions on the forums/streams
I think the problem is that many of these "casual" players don't really care about the rating system that much. They don't care that the extreme feed is filled with these mini-ninjas and certainly don't care if these mini-ninjas make it into the top-rated feed. Hell, others like these mini-ninjas because they found them in the top-rated feed in the first place. I remember seeing a video of some popular youtuber playing trials, who was visibly frustrated by the typical floating-obstacle-garbage type of track but still ended up giving it, and many others like it, a thumbs up. The only explanation I can think of is that the rating means nothing to them.
At the end of the day, we're trying to find logic in a situation where there's none. Trying to be decent men in indecent times, so to speak.
yeah ive seen you playing some crappy tracks on the streams and didnt disliked itOriginally Posted by ShiftySamurai Go to original post"oh, this drivingline is... well... different... or... interessting" lol
En0 and Shifty, thanks for continuing to provide feedback and info. on the forums. Whether I always agree with you or not is neither here nor there, I'm always thankful to see you posting replies.
So are you saying look how brilliant this game is or look how bad it was when we released it?Originally Posted by ShiftySamurai Go to original post
Other than VEGASTRASH expressing that you guys don't care, I agree with just about all his points. But sometimes you guys need to stop looking at things from a purely marketing and business point of view and think about how things look from a player / fan's point of view. We play for the enjoyment, nothing else. It is not our job, we don't play to make money. We play to unwind, relax and have fun and you guys seem to forget that from some of the replies I read. All a player really cares about is that he can load up Trials Fusion and enjoy himself; whether that is by making tracks, playing tracks, completing a challenge or beating his time and moving up the leaderboards is a personal preference but ultimately he wants to play and have fun.
Why should a player care about some huge coding issue behind the scenes that may make a fundamental difference to you guys but doesn't affect his / her playing experience? All he / she knows is that next time they go into TC, it's still a mess, they can't find what they want, they can't filter or sort their results to their required tastes, they can't save a big list of their favourite tracks and sort them into their desired order, they can't play these tracks against their friends in multiplayer ... all things that they could do before. Why were these things dropped if you didn't have an alternative let alone a better one?
uPlay - look at how this ridiculous addition ruined the gaming experience for pretty much everyone from day one. From the very start - You can't download a track, it's on the uPlay server, you can't connect to the server so you can't use TC. Single player leaderboards were messed up for ages or your time didn't save because of uPlay again. Didn't you guys realise how detrimental this would be to player's experiences if it wasn't working properly from day one?
Multiplayer - still not implemented after nearly 5 months?
Tournaments for XP instead of leaderboard placings?
How many people still play tournaments I wonder?
How many people still make tracks. I don't. I used to pass hours and hours making tracks and playing friend's tracks. Like many others who don't know how long they'll have to wait to get the game they thought they'd paid for and to the detriment of the game's longevity, I've all but ceased to play the game now. From 3 to 4 hours per night, I probably play less than an hour per week now.
I used to be a core fan, now I'm just another of those casual gamers who occasionally play the game and that you are trying so hard to please. Fact is, it's not really working because the whole essence of being a casual trials player is that I won't be around to see all these great changes 50 updates and many months down the line.
Thanks!Originally Posted by L0RDMelchett Go to original post
Neither. I'm saying that people inferring that there is no work being done are incorrect. We all know that there are things that need to be changed, and we are working on them. We have prioritized issues that we found more pressing. Players not being able to play being the #1 priority, now that those are fixed we have new features and changes to existing features that are being implemented.Originally Posted by L0RDMelchett Go to original post
I look at it from your point of view first. Believe it or not, everyone on the community team is constantly pushing for updates/changes/features. We can't have everything, so we push hardest for updates to things that are more detrimental than having more than 52 tracks in a feed. While we do want more tracks in feeds, and better feed search options, and a hundred other things, we understand that the dev's time is a finite resource and prioritization needs to be made. My "Track in the Feed" example probably wasn't the best, because that one IS coming.Originally Posted by L0RDMelchett Go to original post
These are definitely good suggestions for updates to Track Central. We are working on allowing the Fav. feed to display far more tracks, though there will be a limit.Originally Posted by L0RDMelchett Go to original post
The addition of Uplay is the reason we are allowed to do things such as cross platform tracks. There are some very good uses for Uplay, though you are right, it does make the game dependent on another connection.Originally Posted by L0RDMelchett Go to original post
We are working on some changes to these 2 features. Hopefully we'll have news to share soon.Originally Posted by L0RDMelchett Go to original post
There are quite a few new creations on all platforms every day, except maybe for PC, but hopefully that picks up.Originally Posted by L0RDMelchett Go to original post
We aren't working hard to please just the casual Trials player. We are working on making everyone's Trials experience better.Originally Posted by L0RDMelchett Go to original post
