Question, does anyone not agree what seperates far cry from all other fps is the editor. Instead of blowing the budget on single player than co op than multiplayer using the left overs for the editor is the wrong formula for far cry4. The editor in fc3 has alot of physics issues, walls you can walk through, entire cement floors you fall through, buildings that are not solid, and have no bottoms. I know I am not alone in wanting these things fixed. In Far cry 2 with walls or posts you could make elevaters that made for great maps I would love to have that back. The snap tool was helpful bring that back. Regular deathmatch with the abillity to force launch at any time like in FC2 bring that back these are just a couple things I wish they would have thought about but they did not you got anything else youd like to see
well I completely agree.
The SP is fun, FC2 remains one of my favourite PS experiences, I thought the story and setting compelling, loved the mechanics. It had a coupe of minor irritations but the game made up for them.
However, what REALLY sets the franchise aside from the pack is the editor, hands down. No competition, literally, as no other AAA game gives us such a tool.
Half Life / Counter Strike and derivatives / sequels / spinoffs .... well you askedOriginally Posted by AW LOST SOLDIER Go to original post![]()
Firstly I'd say that those maps weren't created by the devs giving the players an IGE but with modders doing a lot of that work, and those mods aren't available for console players, but most importantly, those games are several years old, do you think they would still have any activity without the maps/mods/add-ons or would they have died years ago?Originally Posted by Tully__ Go to original post
I was partly jesting, but isn't that exactly the argument being made here? That community made maps extend the life (and marketability) of a game and where the game and map builders strike the right note with the community as a whole that extension can last many years?Originally Posted by MuddledMuppet Go to original post
There are however lots of other games that have editors, either in game, with the game on (one of) the game disk(s), or as a free, downloadable SDK and/or map building app (and even Half Life / Counter Strike got an SDK after Valve saw how much the community could contribute if I recall correctly). I have played with a few myself, the editor that came with Thief / Thief II, the built in mission editors for the Combat Flight Simulator series from MS, the built in mission editor that came with the IL2 series of flight sims, the track building editors in the Trials motorcycle games, GT5 and other race games, etc. In nearly every case the output from the community was prolific and the extension of life and customer base for the game was dramatic.
yeah I know you were partly jesting, I was partly being a **** lol
but I think my response is relevant tho, yes there are a load of ways and means on PC to edit maps/modes etc, but most of those aren't fully supported packages that come with the game, but instead a less developed SDK aimed at people who have a fair degree of knowledge in suing such kits. It's rare to see such a thing on a console.
I think we're on the same page about player made content being able to extend the life of a game, so no hairs to split there
The main point here, is that the FC series is pretty much alone in providing the ability for ANY user to be able to so comprehensively edit a map, regardless of software knoweldge or platfrom, and that's something worth yelling about in my mind, it vastly differentiates FC from other FPS games.
On a side note, you may be able to help me with something as a global mod, any time i make a post or reply to one, I have to enter the image verification thang, someone told me it woudl only happen a short while as i hadn't been very active, yet it's still happening regardless of psoting frequesncy, any ideas? If it helps, I'm logging in thru the PSN login choice. Cheers!

However the Trials motorcycle games I mentioned include the full track builder (as opposed to the basic excuse in GT5) as part of the console game.
No idea. I'm a community volunteer and have no access to the forum backend other than the minimum needed for moderating duties. I don't even know what the exact criteria are supposed to be to qualify as a "real" person and get rid of the captcha.Originally Posted by MickyDaLips Go to original post
What I do know from watching people complain for a while then dance with delight when they realise it's stopped is that efforts to "post your way through" or "wait it out before starting to post again" seem to invariably increase the length of time. Just post normally and it should go away eventually. If you think something may have gone wrong with the process, it won't hurt to log a support ticket ( http://support.ubi.com/ ) but it might not do any good either.
