Is there any knowledge as to how we swap weapons in Far Cry 4? It was okay in Far Cry 3, but I couldn't stand the mouse wheel being the selection for throwable items in Blood Dragon. I don't use WASD as I play left-handed and don't have many free buttons around the cursor keys.
It would be better if we could either just cycle from primary, secondary, special, gadgets etc..... or the best possible thing would be a weapon wheel like what was in Wolfenstein: The New Order. Scrolling the wheel just rotated the highlighted selection on the wheel really quickly and I could change to what I had selected really quickly. I would prefer if something like that was put into Far Cry 4.
We currently have no knowledge regarding the swap mechanics for Far Cry 4 at this time. We appreciate your concern and feedback regarding this. I will pass this along to the team. Be sure to stay up to date with all the information at the official Far Cry website.
I can understand that. But I'd like it if someone is able to say how swapping weapons will be done just before the game is released. As I feel I would have to cancel my Kyrat pre-order if it's that of the Blood Dragon game. I left if shortly after starting it because of finding it annoying to use.Originally Posted by Volfbane Go to original post
Far Cry 3's was better, but again that had an issue as well. Scrolling through weapons also simultaneously cycled through the throwable items, which didn't bother me if I was scrolling from rifle to a pistol, as I'd just use whatever item it's on that I could throw. But if I cycled through the throwable items then it would mean I have to get my gun back if I wanted to carry on using it.
As stated in the first post, a wheel like that of Wolfenstein: The New Order would be perfect. I could scroll downwards and cycle through the weapons clockwise to land on the exact weapon I wanted straight away. The wheel for FC3 wasn't that reliable, I found. Having to move the mouse in the direction of what I was trying to choose just didn't always work. Other than that, the game is probably one of my favourite FPS games and I hope nothing else is changed for the worse in this.
Actually it was easy for me and I liked the mouse wheel dedicated to the nades etc. Simple use the wheel and click click...Originally Posted by Galneryus Go to original post![]()
Do you play with WASD, or with the arrow keys, though? I play left-handed so I have limitations for the amount of keys around my hand that are easily accessible when playing.Originally Posted by Prince_Of_Persia Go to original post
The swapping of the throwable items could be done for me with just one button. There's only a few of them, anyway. But there's loads of guns etc.....to cycle through. Fair enough, I have a numberpad of 1-9 near my hand. But I use a few of the keys there for things like jump and to heal.
I just prefer the mouse wheel to always be able to cycle the weapons. Or better yet, a choice in the game for what "next/previous weapon" gets assigned to in the options.
I have an Idea, till no none of the games have used central click. Dev team can use a central click button to switch between nades and guns, after that we can use mouse wheel to change the weapons! What yaa think???Originally Posted by Galneryus Go to original post![]()
I play L handed too. For FC 3 I remapped my number pad 6 and 3 keys to nades and molotovs (respectively), and the number pad 5 to "throw". They're all quite close to the movement/arrow keys which I, like you, use.Originally Posted by Galneryus Go to original post
I like my money, but I don't like when game companies change their game for the worse. There wasn't really anything wrong with the weapon wheel in FC3, but what they did for Blood Dragon was atrocious. If a company changes something then the old way should still be put in there for previous users that enjoyed it. It's like when loads moaned about BF4 getting a different control scheme on consoles, they then put an old set-up in the game for them.Originally Posted by GiveMeTactical Go to original post
This happens far too much for me to continue. Battlefield 4 on PC had LMB as "Accept a revive" online. Then they changed it to the spacebar and it was hard-coded. I can't change it back to the mouse or what my jump button is. They changed it nearly a year AFTER the game was out and now I have to move my entire arm to press space and try to move before I get killed again. Imagine using the Enter on the numberpad when you use WASD keys......no one would like that.
I would just like it if it's playable the way it was in FC3.
In a way I like the idea, but only if it can be changed so that I can use the scroll or click for something else, if I choose to do so. I definitely like the mouse scroll through the weapons but so far the best I've seen was that one in the last Wolfenstein game. I'd like that in this game. That's kind of like what it was in the last one but you had to make the wheel show up and then move the mouse in the direction of it, I found it didn't always land on what I was trying to choose each time. The thing with me is I sometimes have the wheel click as throwing an item. But as long as the mouse wheel doesn't "scroll" through throwable items then I'll be happy. Can't believe that was implemented in Blood Dragon. There's 2-3 items to throw!Originally Posted by Prince_Of_Persia Go to original post
