Remember far cry 2? When you picked some random mercenary gun? That thing was rusty as hell. Remember how they would jammed? Remember the same happening to your own gun when you fired one too many shot with it? The panic, the few curses you'd mutter while trying to both run back to cover and un-jam the damn thing? It was a pain but a somewhat enjoyable one.
I really liked that feature in far cry 2 and i think I'm not the only one. But a LOT of people did hate it.
So why not add it has an optional feature in far cry 4? Like something you could just switch on/off in the option menu or get as an extra pain in the *** in harder/more realistic game mode?
You pretty much answered your own question. They're not likely to take the time to implement something that is rarely used due to most hating it.Originally Posted by emperor_magus Go to original post
The unexpected since Far Cry 3 now comes in the form of random predator attacks, which is something FC2 didn't have. I much prefer that to jamming weapons. And their jamming model was never very accurate, a bit too exaggerated. If weapons were in that bad of shape the enemies wouldn't even have used them. They had a big name gun runner that could easily get more, and the trusty AK is the most popular in that region.
Even the AK jammed badly in Far Cry 2 though, and with it's piston vs DI design, it;s one of the most durable and reliable weapons made. You can literally drag it through mud, sand and snow without regular lubrication like most assault rifles need, and it would still fire. This is one of the biggest reasons it's so popular world wide and has more variants made than pretty much any other assault rifle.
Far Cry 2's weapon jamming model totally ignored all that.
