There is one slightly odd and possibly worrying thing here, and that is the fact that this information only came out from being directly asked. Bear with me here
In the run up to Farcry 3, we found out there would be no vehicles in MP, and there was a huge outcry from the fanbase, post-release, we had the lobby system taking over as our No. 1 worry, but still the disappointment was tangible from the fans about the loss of vehicles.
Now if the return of vehicles was a result of Ubi listening to us, why wait until being directly asked before releasing this information? Why sit on it when their own forums have seen this question being asked many times? This wasn't a carefully managed stage presented tidbit waiting to be released for maximum effect, it was an answer in a sideshow interview, if the question hadn't been asked, would it have been volunteered?
It just seems crazy that such a high priority complaint about the last iteration should be addressed in this manner, it leads me to wonder whether this was as a responce to fans, or whether it just seems that way.
Whichever it is, of course it means that in the end we get our beloved vehicles back, but if it's pure coinicidence and Ubi aren't actually listening, then where do we stand on the lobby system?
Have they already cracked this issue too but simply not told us as the question wasn't asked? Do they even have any intention of changing the dreadful lobby system form FC3? To my knowledge they have never directly responded to the lobby issue, so in their minds it could be A-OK.
Much as I hated the 'no vehicle' decision in 3, by far the more important issue was the poor lobby system, I really wish they'd asked about that instead, maybe then we would have got an answer, right now it seems that although Ubi will listen when there's a mic and camera, they're not listening to us that keep making return visits to the forums.
All the main issues the community adressed can easily be aswered, in my opinion these are all subjects that will take planning so will have been decided in an early stage of development.
To answer your question, based on what we have seen on and after the deception of FC3 and the lack of a single dev showing on this forum..
The vehicles are a step in the right direction and it seems that some of the people on the dev team have feel for what FC should be like.
O and Muppet -> XBone records, you can edit, do voiceovers and upload through the youtube app. Champ is going to XBONE..
Everything about FC4 looks fantastic so far. Like really AWESOME.
I'm pensive about how the Multi-Player (TDM etc) and how player-published maps will be hosted - we really need confirmation of how the lobby system will work.
Hopefully,
1) Create a map and publish it
2) Set up a list of maps - up to 15 in rotation, with options to set match duration, total kills etc, time of day, friendly fire option, option to allow player voting or not.. basically all the options that were present in Far Cry 2
3) Invite any number of friends AND invite any number of Players Met (same as FC2), and be on a list where everyone looking to play on Player-Created maps will see your name as Host and can click to join and continue playing at the end of each match without another invite required which continues onto he next map in the rotation.
So really, in short, exactly the same as FC2.
I hope so Razor, I truly do bud, I genuinely believe if Ubi can get the few problems sorted out this franchise could be a CoD beater, am talking longevity/online popularity here.Originally Posted by oRAZORTAILo Go to original post
hahaha won't get in a console war, I reckon they're both good machinesO and Muppet -> XBone records, you can edit, do voiceovers and upload through the youtube app. Champ is going to XBONE..
I don't have a xbone so I have no idea what it offers, I was just letting champ (who WILL be coming to Ps4) know about the update as he was asking me stuff about it
@Sab, 100% agree with everything you said
Let's face it ; all the cool people are on Xbox and we have the best and largest mapping community on Far Cry. And we get the best games.. Champ is ours, besides he still has PS3.Originally Posted by MickyDaLips Go to original post
Sounds like fun to have a mapping competition crossplatform !
I would love to have both platforms to be honest - That Halo Classic series looks brilliant but at the same time there isn't much on either console that has opened my eyes and FC4 I believe is held back a little because of older machines but hey who wouldn't get a sh1t load of extra money by bringing out on all platforms - It will be the right choice for them financially.
With MP we don't need a lot really - and to be honest what we are asking for with the reveal of the hosting options could be the area which Ubi Red Storm should be discussing, I imagine they will get the limelight as some point and will tell us about everything they are doing.
It would be great if one of them could just tell us but I can wait - Muppet I just ordered a laptop for next day delivery so I might be in business very soon - might need some help though
I was hoping today that some MP news would filter through from Gamescom you would think at some point they will mention a few things, with the editor I guess the guy is still cramming in an much as possible so it might be later at Pax Prime if we don't hear anything this week - I am happy with what I hear from FC4 - It looks fu@@ing Mint.
How dare you sir, how DARE you!Originally Posted by oRAZORTAILo Go to original post

Most people in the studio don't have the privilege to release any information at all unless told to--- that's how their NDAs work. The designers and management, e.g. do have the chance to release some (although vague) information- like, yes, vehicles will be there- but no further information on exactly which vehicles the multiplayer will feature and what kind of a role they will have, or how they affect gameplay.Originally Posted by MickyDaLips Go to original post
Yeah I do understand that, which means either he released info inadvertantly, or Ubi have decided it was ok to release a snippet and at least confirm vehicles will be in MP.Originally Posted by razorfinnish Go to original post
The questions remain tho, albeit directed at the decision makers rather than the chap in the video, if the question wasn't asked, would it have been volunteered, if not why not, if so, why not shout about it just a little bit more? More importantly, there must already be an answer by now about the server/lobby problems, why no engagement at all with the fans & community on this?
Maybe it's just me over-thinking (I do that a lot lol) and maybe it's just me wanting to be put out of my misery on this topic one way or another. I'll be getting the game anyway as I know I'll enjoy the SP, but like many others, I'd be a truly happy man if I knew just a BIT about the MP
Oh and Razor (t'other one).... so's your face.
