Wilppe the sound guy. Good advice. I've never played with headphones but I think I have occasionally in the past boosted the sound level of something WELL over 100. haha

I don't think I really added any sounds to my current entry track but I have been wearing headphones while watching Youtube videos before and come across a moment when the volume exploded and I hated the world.

Good advice. So, one of the tracks with a "planet explosion" went nuts with the volume. You know who you are!! j/k

Although, to address your point of checking the audio balance with headphones, surround sound and tv.... I don't know that it is possible with the average person. I don't know that the average person has their xbox or PS plugged into a multi-speaker surround sound system.

I think most people just work with the sound they hear from their TV. PC could be an exception as headphones are more common on PC but it is still not likely that they are putting THAT much thought into the sound.

I could be wrong, though. There may be a very select and secret organization of audiophiles who's very room is modeled for accoustic perfection with speaker placement being paramount and nothing short of studio monitor quality speakers are acceptable. Also, ancient aliens!

Yeah, that's a very good point. Luckily hi-end sound hardware isn't necessarily required and nice results can be achieved even with low-quality equipment, which is often fun just to try out. The key is to try different ones. For example, an average laptop user could first use their headphones and then the laptop speakers. A tv user could first listen to sounds through its built-in speakers, then switch to either cheap mp3-player earbuds or small speakers. There are many alternatives!

Yes. There are other options. Some xbox/ps4 headphones feature the game audio.

As I said, your post was great advice. Especially the audio level suggestions for sound effects. I had never considered the volume level much because I just work with what I hear from my TV but I have listened to stuff while wearing headphones on my laptop and nearly had my ears destroyed.

It was solid advice. I was just offering a reason why some folks may have not made such an effort or even thought about it.

Plus, as most often the case with the internet... I just wanted to blame ancient aliens. Cause' really, who else could have been responsible???
