I was just like you 2 years ago man when i just started playing Trials Evolution.
Those extremes seemed impossible to even get to the finish line on and at first i thought the leaderboards where filled
with cheaters and hackers but then i actually watched a replay and knew it was real.
Thats what inspired me to try to get better at the game. Practiced a lot and eventualy became a hard & extreme track expert.
Nowadays i can get a good fast extreme run with minimal effort but if i want to get a "perfect run" i still have to work for it.
Just keep playing and practising and i promise you will get better.
Lol, that reminds me of when I downloaded a custom track on Evo called (something) slaughter house. Might be msc slaughter house, can't remember. Anyway, it's a ninja track, and obviously I couldn't complete it so I watched the replay and saw some guy landing upside down on his back wheel (which I now know as a fender grab), and landing on his front wheel and somehow making his rear wheel rise up (which I now know you just hold accelerate and tap the brake really fast). Obviously I can do those moves now, but when me and my friend first saw that replay we both thought that the guy was somehow cheating and what we were seeing was impossible to do.Originally Posted by BigSh0tRob Go to original post
Not much point to that story, it just reminded me of, lol.
Hehe, good to read I am not alone in my mix of awe and despair.
I managed Gold on Great Crater today, with 5 flaws. I know, not exactly heroic, but one short-term goal checked for me.
I am just annoyed I can`t get the second jump right, always have to drop to the lower plateau first, which feels humiliating.
Those University vids on YT are great btw, they really do a good job explaining what happens with the bike.
The professor is a boss...... He just explains things in ways you can understand rather than trying to work them out from watching replays (Things happen to quickly for good players) Don't worry about dropping to the lower plataeu - it is a much safer route, and while you are still getting to 0 faults go that way - work on one problem at a time and 0 faults is close by. Since you can't platinum without a 0 fault run, I always try to clear the run first then bring the time down - usually the platinum time on the hards and extremes allows you to take your time on the trouble points if you have one specific problem.
That second platform needs a good bunny hop which is hard to get with the momentum you carry (which is why I never try it in a tournament run.... my odds are not high enough to risk it as I am still not that good). If you have the gold, try to zero fault, or go onto the extremes, as there are more techniques in there that will help you go faster on the hards
Hehe, to be honest I never aimed for time or platinum since I play. That particular jump just bugged me, I wanted to make it for no reason other than making it.
Right now I have two or three hard tracks left to aim for gold, but I don`t even remotely feel ready to try extremes yet, so I guess some zero fault tries will be next.
Lots and lots of play time, i don't really like Fusion that much. The viper seems like more of a mix of the phoenix with the banshee from Evo. Regardless ill still play for kicks, but fusion just seems meh. Glad some people enjoy it though!
If you just play extremes and practice it becomes muscle memory
A lot of top riders don't play anymore, or have quit entirely.RIP. It's nice to see some new possible up coming pros though. Love watching a good run
Distrust, have a crack at the first couple of extremes - they are not that massive a step up from the greater crater. Just because they say extreme should not scare you - there are lots of different levels of extreme track ranging from reasonable to ninja nightmares.... which I still marvel at people being able to complete. The new extreme is riders of rustland is a pretty reasonable difficulty - there are a few really nasty obstacles but they are all technique (having said that I have not 0 faulted it yet......). I think that you are in the perfect position to grow the sort of unhealthy addiction to trials many of us have, especially as you don't have any preconceived ideas of what trials should be. I love this game - even though it drives me crazy!
Puddins, thanks for mentioning the vids. And agree with everyone else, we all started at the exact same place and have just played for years. I also bet if it were possible, many of the top riders would love to start all over again. I really enjoyed that learning process. While I can still improve, the improvements are in small increments. That initial frustration and completing a zero fault extreme run for the first time is what maed this game great. I guess thats why people eventually gravitate to ninjas, simply to keep pushing themselves. Good luck.
The addiction feels unhealthy enough already, thanks
Extreme tracks... I took another look, but nah, way too early, I am not there yet. Those steep / vertical parts are a nightmare ... sometimes I get lucky and stumble into a checkpoint head first, but that`s it.
Evo & Fusion ... I have both, started with Fusion. I think it`s like with some other classics, like Tomb Raider or Resident Evil ... you love the one most you started with.
