This is a great spot to post if you have issues or complaint about me, my policies, or anything else. Hopefully this will allow perfectly reasonable threads to remain on topic and not end up getting locked.
Also, posts here will not result in automatic bans. It's not a trap, or a joke. You still need to follow the forum rules, so flaming and trolling... probably a bad idea. But criticisms, thoughts, ideas, complaints. Go for it.
1) Getting the last word in (especially when you misquote the person involved) and closing the thread is childish.
2) Starting an argument with someone with the aim of getting them to stop being argumentative is hypocritical.
3) Using blatant sarcasm with people and then denying being sarcastic isn't very professional.
4) Posting directly after someone and on the same subject and then stating that you weren't aiming your post at them is your error for not being clear in your communication, not their fault for not possessing mind-reading abilities.
5) Someone who gets banned should at least have a reason given to them, even if you think it's obvious.
Just general points but something specific I'd like to bring up is from a thread that was locked not too long ago, where you and I interacted. I admitted to trolling with the sentence "Welcome to the future".. and that was wrong of me. The word "trolling" gets thrown around too readily nowadays imo and that wasn't a troll - I was incredibly sincere with the sentiment behind that sentence. It was irony used to prove a valid point of importance, not trolling and I'd like to withdraw my admittance to breaking forum rules on that occasion. You seemed to draw confidence from me admitting that, which then apparently excused you from treating me with any respect despite demanding respect from me in return.
Brave thread, props to you sir.
I got a 2-day ban last month, when I tried to log in I got a pop-up message saying "You have been banned for trolling the forum staff."Originally Posted by WILLYUMZ Go to original post
Did you not get a message like this, or where you after a more specific reason?
It's pretty obvious why you got banned, you were massacring Shifty in that thread, and then he rage-quit in defeat by locking it.
Well done, it was a awesome thread to read.
Why did I get banned you ask? I used the term "real dev." in a post which somebody took offense to.
Apparently promoting livestreams, and giving out 2nd-hand information is the same as developing a game from the ground up these days.
No I just got a blank white screen when trying to sign in, and I noticed my forum rank had changed to "Banned".Originally Posted by YeahimAwesome Go to original post
Euan said he had a similar message to yours so maybe it was some kinda tech error for me I dunno.
Also had a warning not too long ago for "trolling/spamming" and "posting without making a point", when I very clearly did make a point. There was a little yellow card next to said post, which later disappeared and on my account it said "Reversed" next to the warning, which I assume means it was retracted? If so I was banned without a warning, or a reason and was never informed about my warning being reversed in the first place - it's like some kind of circus.
I will absolutely admit that my posts did nothing to calm the situation. We will just have to agree to disagree with the conversation in question, and I apologize to you if you feel unfairly treated. That was not my intention, and I stand by my previous statements that I was not being sarcastic when I said "sir".
It shouldn't be possible to submit a ban, or an infraction, without entering a message. There should not be a way for no message to be shown,Originally Posted by WILLYUMZ Go to original post
You received a warning, I looked through the reports, and the warning was reversed as I did not agree with it. People may not like what you say, but your post had a point, and in my opinion, no rule was broken.
I don't typically do a whole lot of live stream promotion. I also don't view myself as a live stream host. During Trials Live from North America I think it is obvious that Johkr is the host, and rightly so. He's clearly much better at it than I am. He's energetic and exciting, while I am laid back and a bit awkward. I'm kinda there to make sure we cover certain topics and to play some Trials.Originally Posted by YeahimAwesome Go to original post
We don't get into who does exact duties when it comes to Trials, which is why we don't say "JJ made that Track!" as it is all a group effort, but according to your previous definition as to what a developer is... well, that matches some of the duties that I have had over the last few months. I am most visible on live streams and giving out 2nd hand information, but that does not mean that it is all I do.
I am happy to have been able to work on features that you have likely already used, as it took a long while to create and balance them, and most of the feedback about it has been good. Working with the game designers has been something a bit different than my normal duties, and I have learned a lot about not only how much work is put into something that seems simple, but also the thoughts behind player progression and in game rewards.
My number one priority is also not the moderation of the forums. That is a duty for Ubisoft Forum Managers & Ubisoft Moderators. We are lucky enough to have been "left to ourselves" in the RedLynx space, and much of that is due to BarryBarfly.
For reference: WILLYUMZ post in this thread was to the point, concise, and, even though he didn't like my actions, he expressed himself rationally and without fault. In contrast, YeahimAwesome's point was made in the first paragraph, and the next two serve no other purpose than to try to belittle RedLynx Staff, in this case, me.Maybe it is because it is directed towards me, but it seems the whole point is to cause anger. That, to me, is pretty much the definition of trolling and would typically be why people would catch an infraction.
I still don't like the fact you have to enter your username and password every time you want to log in. And why not let us change the thread name like before the forum change. It was a whole lot more convenient that way in the user created tracks. Especially now that there are 100 different threads for xbox1, 360 ps4 and pc. This has nothing to do with you or your policies shifty, just with the anything else bit.
I agree about this feature, updating threads, especially Track threads/videos/streams etc, that are frequently updated could really use a title update feature. If it can't be done, okay, but it's a pity as it was very useful.Originally Posted by Rishaan Go to original post
There have been quite a few discussions with the forum super admin, the people who's task it is to ensure that every forum runs smoothly (not just the RL section). I've pushed for this feature to be enabled a few times, but I was then shown the statistics on it being misused. I was very surprised by how many threads went from something like "Post your favorite character" to "Designer Gucci Bags, 25% off". This made it difficult for Forum Admin and Mods to keep the REAL discussions in the forums intact, while removing obvious spam.Originally Posted by Rishaan Go to original post
It's a feature I would like to see come back, but sometimes we must decide what we really want to fight for and think about just how many extra hours might be required for one feature to change. This is also a feature that can't be done at the Category level, and must be a forum-wide change. It would affect everything on the forums from Trials Fusion to The Crew, Assassins Creed to Rayman, and everything in between.
I agree, there are plenty of times that titles can be legitimately changed, and I only ever remember a title change being used for the wrong purposes on the old forums ONCE. I would love to see this come back, but for now we're playing on the same field as everyone else on the forum.Originally Posted by TeriXeri Go to original post
