Allow an option for round-based multiplayer. Get away from only having respawn modes.
Provide ways to promote teamwork within clans (more than just battle cry). Games have become too individualistic and there is need for true teamwork based games if they are well thought out. This doesn't mean that you abandon the individual games, but allow for teamwork style games as well. Once you build the community then you have followers for a long time to come:
Some more team based concepts:
-- have mic only rooms.
-- reduced radar that forces communication rather than just looking at a radar. Doesn't show exactly where the enemy is.
-- provide ways to create wars between clans (have a clan ranking).
-- improve the effects of battle cry so that they are more obvious. It will encourage players to travel in packs
-- the revive function will be even more dramatic during non-respawn based modes. ("I really need to save my teammate, but is it worth it").
-- create a mode that allows for more teamwork.
Whilst the Single Player can be eipc and make a game very memorable, the shelf life of a game has to be determined by the multi-player.
Stats will show how FC2 did a better job over FC3 in terms of multi-player longevity.
Um... nothing more to say and unless someone has stats to prove otherwise then go rethink.
Yes No maybe so? I don't think far cry 3 needed good MP. It really succeeded without it. People came for the single player and were happy with that. I don't think A good MP is really needed. Now the exception is the map editor. That thing is cool and can do a lot to extend and improve gameplay. The exception to that it doesn't have to just make competitive MP maps. It can make single player challenges. I think you might actually get more mileage out of custom made outposts you download from the internet and play. (Maybe in co-op)
That is a really good idea.Originally Posted by nomotog Go to original post
I liked Capture The Flag on previous Far Cry MP. Plant the bomb would be good.Originally Posted by GRAW2ROBZ Go to original post
I'm hoping the editor has more options where its not a necessity to make shared spawns but comes as an option, game modes could be customised or mixed so the mapper can create their own game modes.. We've always had to validate maps around set rules - a bit more freedom to experiment could produce some crazy good stuff. e.g. anything from 3 up to 5 domination points (set by the mapper), or like the Transmission game mode of FC3, but where you choose the order they appear... so you could set a route along a riverside for example and they are captured in sequence. Race maps, if there are vehicles this time round. Again this would have to be for the mapper to have the ability to customise the game modes/weapons/ammo etc...
Escape maps have been made alot recently in FC2 and FC3 and they can be great to play but I'm not sure if Ubi would go down that route and make their own since they are not very popular in other games but they could work in a co-op mode using AI as the enemy if theres the ability to set objectives, timers or checkpoints., which also leads to checkpoints to create single player or co-op maps.
If we get the AI in the editor where we can publish it without any problems as well as be able to place weapons and set a game mode ..(e.g. TDM plus weapons placed, plus AI...- *chuckles*).. there would be a huge variety of maps made oozing with creativity. But lets not get our hopes up too much, I will be happy with a simple MP that works like clockwork and allows our own maps to be hosted by ourselves and where other players see our names listed and then have the freedom to join or not.
That would be a surprise since co-op is just a 2 man show. a AAA-shooter needs to have a MP in my opinion. The editor would become pretty useless that way as well.Originally Posted by H0EY Go to original post
Just give us tools to create our own game modes in the editor and the community can do the rest.
Pretty much all shooters should do multiplayer, it is the core of word-of-mouth.
You will buy a game for singleplayer and you will let your mates play your games singleplayer.
BUT your mates will by the game for multiplayer.
Multiplayer is where you get extra sales, not just immediately either, a good multiplayer can keep a game price high for longer before it needs to be put on sale to move the product.
Farcry had good multiplayer originally thats why so many older players get annoyed with newer guys who think its all about the singleplayer.
Ubi just need to change their attitude on a few things and the newer players will realize what they have been missing out on.
Yeah i'm sure it will have it.Originally Posted by oRAZORTAILo Go to original post
It could be just me but a console controller i found the editor very clunky, i wish everbody had access to the PC version and could import the map to their console.
