    Wow...ps4 controllers suck for trials...

    So I was testing a full throttle challenge today for a track I'm working on, and it wasn't working, so I looked at the input values for my right trigger. What did I find? It's values range from 0-7, my controller, with full compression under reasonable pressure only went up to 5! I have to squeeze the trigger as hard as I can to get it to go to 7, even then it flickers to 6 sometimes! Plus my left trigger is super squeaky. Trials done did a number on this thing. At least the analogue sticks are still iron tight...

    Guess I'll have to explain that players should use the x button to guarantee success.

    I'm telling you guys, pop open that editor and examine your equipment. You might be surprised how inadequate it is.

    FOrgive my ignorance, how do we go about checking this?

    Edit: Nevermind, figured it out. I didnt know there was an option to make the tiles visible during testing... NEAT!

    But yeah, I tested and fgound out my controller functions great. I got a reading of 7 when the trigger is all the way down with no extra pressure. Sorry you have a bum controller!

    I'm having to train myself in a whole new way of playing trials lol. I'm using a very strange combination of both the trigger and the button depending on how much burst I need. Its not all bad. The tougher timesavers on my track are more consistent now that I can guarantee a full bust of speed.

    I just wonder how many others have had issues with the full throttle challenges with there triggers, it's unfortunate. There could be lots of confused people out there.

    Hmmmmm. I ditched a **** load of 360 controllers for this very reason. in a flat out drag my bike would be consistantly slower than everyone elses. I had to really really squeeze down on the right trigger to get full speed. Is it a software or hardware issue you talk of?

    I assume hardware.

    To go back to your topic. I'm finding the throttle on the Dual Shock 4 much easier to handle than 360....but the thumbsticks are terrible. A 5 minute sweaty session on an extreme track and my fingers are slipping all over the shop.

    It's gotta be hardware. No two controllers these days seem to work the same.

    And yeah, ps4 thumb sticks dont grip well, especially when things get sweaty

    A bit late to the party, but I checked mine today and no problems. Hits 7.0 even with gentle force applied.

    Nice.

    I on the other hand have adopted the use of the x button, almost exclusively, causing my powers to reach untold hights. Be afraid. Be very afraid.............

    How do I see this 0-7 readout for the gas input? I can't find it anywhere in the track editor.

    Go to data sources
    Game variable data sources
    Go into its properties, then scroll over til you f'ind gas controller value
    Also in the properties is brake value and left and right stick values

    To make thes visible while playing, go to track settings, make it a skill game, go to scores, and select the data source as a counter and make sure it's displayed on the screen properly. Or you could just place the data icon next to the rider, freeze him, play, then go into the pause menu and show editor icons. Then there you go.

    After playing trials for years I've definitely learned two things about controllers. 1, usually no two are exactly alike, even if they are the same brand. And 2, over time, they will wear out and will be more difficult to use optimally.
