*NOTE - This is not about the Beta*
Howdy Guys, I understand that the Beta is finally live and plenty of you including myself are awaiting our keys! Looking forward to it! And Congrats to those who already have them, hope yer having fun in the regions of the USA! My question is strictly about the platforms this game will be across and may not be able to be answered yet but I'm curious if anyone knows or can redirect me to finding an answer. The reason I question whether there will be cross platform servers is simply because several members of my family are highly intrigued by The Crew and we all plan to get it however Myself and My Brother are both on Desktop PC's where my Dad and Uncle are on Xbox One's, Im wondering whether or not we could still create a Crew together and team up together to cruise and enjoy this game!
They stated that the game will have dedicated servers for each platform - there is no cross-platform play.
There have been very few truly cross-platform mmo's, and there are many reasons why. One reason is that PC updates can be pushed out very fast, but console updates have to be certified by Sony / Microsoft before they can be released and this can take time (and money). PC players would not want a critical patch to be delayed, but if they got the patch before consoles they have a big advantage. It seems MS will not allow any Xbox one game to be cross-platform mmo, and balancing gameplay between all the different platforms is a real nightmare - and rarely if ever pulled off.
Hmmm that does indeed sound concerning for my plans then since I have no intention to get a Console anytime soon, just nothing on them has sold me to want to buy one when I can buy it on PC, though I'll keep an eye out for any other discoveries about the question in hand, if there ever is one. Thank you for your answer!
