why is it that when I play Silent Hunter 5 Battle for the atlantic, I never get mission orders on the map? Whether or not I play the tutorial, I never get any mission orders. I get the map, the ports and airfields, JUST NO MISSION ODERS!

Have you completed the tutorial? After completing the tutorial you go to the dock and then get further orders.

It's been awhile since I've played SH5 with any regularity. But, if I remember right, I believe that the mission orders are stated at the beginning of each patrol. If I'm not right on this assumption, I suggest you try asking your question here.
