Its a fine track, I'll admit, like a 7 or 8 out of 10. Theres a lot of time put into it, and its usually very nice looking, but it's not a great pure trials track. It has a lot of repetitive obstacles, tons of rugged surfaces, and no thought out timesavers. And people seem to swoon over long tracks, just because they're long...I don't get it.
Seriously though, an article online to make this claim!? Just think of all the excellent things you've seen in trials, or ANY game with user content. I can think of an absurd amount of tracks better than "the cave".
again, not that it's bad, I liked it. But this article is f***in' nuts.
Sure, it's not the best track ever, but a well thought out technical driving line is never going to be something that gets mainstream attention. I say that anything that brings attention to Trials and shines a spotlight on the depth of creativity that is possible with it is good for the community. And who knows, someone who sees that article may become a member of the community, or even a talented builder themselves.
Thats the positive way to look at itOriginally Posted by mrjorts Go to original post. I however read this and can't help but think this person represents the mindset of the bulk of trials players. If that is so, it's sad, because he has a misguided understanding of what a great track is. Yeah, yeah, there's some subjectivity to what makes a track great, but by and large there are hard and fast rules and expectations for a track to be great. This track, while its enjoyable, is not refined.
So I fear for words like his getting exposure. We know how kiddies are. If it's being said on tv, or it's in print or on the fancy internet, they are manipulated into accepting it as fact(generally, of course). I just don't think it's good talk anywhere, outside of a forum.
