Today, Ubisoft announced that its Blue Byte® studio is developing The Settlers - Kingdoms of Anteria, the latest installment in the world-famous building strategy franchise, which will be released in 2014.

“By reinventing our approach to the franchise, The Settlers - Kingdoms of Anteria offers players a brand new experience full of new possibilities to explore,” said Christopher Schmitz, Director of Product Development at Blue Byte. “Without a doubt, this is the most innovative Settlers’ game we have ever created.”

So, what do you think? Looks very different to me, perhaps it will satisfy players who want a return to the style of the early Settlers games?

I'll just echo the youtube comments written right under the video - please, return to the unique formula that made Settlers 2,3&4 so fun, do not bring us another Heritage of Kings.
I can't shake the feeling that since Settlers 5, Blue Byte insists on creating weirdly different games that stray too far from what made the series amazing and unique, instead of capitalising on the successful formula and expanding upon already good ideas.


Judging from the trailer, there seem to be some hero units (?) which you can send on quests to slay some beasts (like in Majesty series?).

P.S. This forum is pretty much impossible to find, there's no link to the Settlers section on the main "Ubi forums" page, unless I'm missing something.
Edit: Ah, it's under the "more forums" tab, kind of hidden to be honest...

I got tired of all the scrolling to find the forum too. Now I start typing Settlers in the "Find your forum" box in the top right corner.

Nothing has been said officially,but I suspect this wont be a browser game,like TSO

Settlers Online seems to have it's own forum and there is no announcement there. So this has to be Settlers 8. It just has to be......

I will be soooooo disappointed if it is a browser game.
