Msg's a day on top of what I already get. I would love that...
No really, It doesnt bother me. I had the experience of going and meeting some awesome people. Thats enough for me.
What an interesting discussion we have going on here!
I will admit one thing here and now, I fully did not expect ANY form of cross platform track central tracks. What we have now is a huge step above anything I saw coming. Bravo to redlynx for managing what we have now. I just figured sony and microsoft would have said "no way in hell!, don't show people what awesome tracks are available on the other guys platform!"
In Trials HD, there was no track central. You had to tirelessly advertise your own tracks, make your own youtube videos, start your own forum thread. At most, we had around 100 people playing our track (the friend limit... remember that?). The most recognition even the biggest and most popular builders got was like 10-15 messages per track between Forum, youtube, and xbox live... It was Very tough to get many people to play your tracks and the biggest honor you got was a little praise from a little (but very tight!) community, and any feedback I got was an amazing honor!
In Trials Evo we got a monumental step forward with track central. Suddenly, we didnt have to juggle friend requests to allow more than one hundred people to play our tracks. We had one place to search for tracks and browse popular tracks and things like that. I remember someone complaining that they only had like 600 downloads for their track. I was thinking "well geese! thats like 6 times the downloads anyone ever got on Trials HD..." REdlynx introduced the Redlynx picks and man, what an honor to make a track that got picked! One of my tracks recieved something like 300,000 downloads! Simply having the ability to reach that many people was incredible.
Now we have Fusion. I wont talk about some of the kinks that need ironing out. We have beaten that horse to death. I'm going to talk about the positives here. We now have the possibility to reach players across 4 platforms. Sony, Microsoft, and PC. I'm not sure if you guys realize what a feat that is. THis was done by a (semi) indie company. The first time this was done isnt some huge budget EA or Activision game. It was Trials! It see it as freakin huge. Its like the honor of making the cut to have a REdlynx pick, but it means more because it reaches even more people. I see it as a huge step forward and I wouldnt be surprised if it gets expanded upon.
Its kinda a shame people arent getting direct credit, but here is my point of view as someone who has a fairly deep history in track building in Trials. It would still be a huge honor. The people here on these forums will all know who made what track. I will just be happy if I make a track that makes it onto all platforms. Perhaps when I make a track, I will slip in a little signature in there somewhere.... And yes, I will be making a track sooner or later.
Very nice post Jook and puts things into perspective. At least we understand why builders don't get credit on x-platform tracks and to be honest it's a small price to pay for what is a monumental step forward for the game. Fusion really needs this for the game's longevity on all platforms and it's really positive to see RedLynx push forward with this despite their being not much in the way of precedents for such a thing. If this proves a success who knows what possibilities this may open in the future not only for Trials, but for other games.

Agreed... but for the least mature reason possible. lol I think it is fun to see my track top 4 on highest rated of the week and count all those Fusion Community tracks below. I kinda look at it as competition from the other platforms. For every community track I beat... it is one more person who chose the wrong platform.Originally Posted by D2Dahaka Go to original post
On a serious note, I love the cross-platform tracks. I'm glad I won't miss out on the gems that the good builders make. Keep em' coming.![]()
