    Xbox One 10% GPU boost?

I've got a question for the Devs, will you guys utilise the soon to happen 10% boost to the GPU of the Xbox One?
I'm sure many will agree that despite it being a small boost, its worth every percent nowadays. Additionally, the trials games don't even use any Kinect functionality - so are we good :P

I don't think that any developer is going to be able to use the extra 10% GPU power - ever! I might be wrong, but if a dev uses the extra power, it would make the game unstable on X1s that have Kinect because they don't have the extra power to run it.

Microsoft screwed everybody by dropping Kinect. Before release they were saying that because every X1 comes with Kinect, Xbox exclusive devs will integrate Kinect into games, and make Kinect focused games. Then they drop Kinect, screwing everyone who believed them when they said that they had no plans to offer an X1 without Kinect. I don't get why they did it though. The whole point of X1, at least for me, was the voice control, allowing you to switch games, watch TV, pause movies, etc without having to go into different menus, turn on your controller for movies and TV etc... If you loose that, then you might as well get a ps4, because the ps4 has better graphics. I brought an X1 over the ps4 for Kinect. If there was never Kinect for X1 then I would have brought a ps4.

So, honestly, I think Microsoft are just trying to cover their tracks by saying X1 without Kinect has 10% more GPU power. But like I said, I don't think devs will ever be able to use it because it would make X1s with Kinect unstable.

It would be interesting to hear from a trials dev if there is some way around that though...

Apologies for the long post, and sight rant at Microsoft.

I think they will just turn off the kinect functions when a game starts if you have one, making the kinect pretty useless for everyone who has it. This is just the death of the kinect because all devs will use the power reserved for the kinect for their games now....

Well played Microsoft, selling useless parts to people.

I did think that, but then thought if they do switch off the Kinect, if you're playing the game and want to play a different game, or watch TV, you wouldn't be able to use voice command to switch; you would have to quit the game before you could use the Kinect again. That would really p!$$ me off if I had to do that! If all new games did that it would make the Kinect absolutely useless because every game would just turn it off. I think if that happened I'd sell my X1 and buy a ps4! Oh the irony, when Microsoft announced X1 they were all about voice control, but it could be that X1 doesn't do voice control, but ps4 does, lol!

That GPU power was reserved by the Kinect Sensor, not mic. The GPU has to calculate the 3D space in front and such, which takes GPU power. The mic and camera doesn't, so you will still be able to use the voice commands or put your face in a stream/capture.
