    Out of range?

I;am sure this must have been addressed, but I cannot find it from the search.
I have just installed this game and run from Uplay but whilst I get sound, my monitor is blank with an error box that states, "Out of Range"
I tried a different screen resolution from my Windows 7 control panel to no avail.

What resolution do you run your desktop on? Other games? Are you using a TV?

Changing your desktop (Windows) resolution won't do anything, you need to modify the resolution and/or refresh rate of the game using in-game options. If you are unable to reach that screen, you can accomplish the same task by modifying your GamerProfile.xml file with a text editor like Notepad, Wordpad or Notepad++, the file should be located in:
    Documents > My Games > Watchdogs > xxxx >

    Look for <quality ResolutionX="1920" ResolutionY="1080" and change it to <quality ResolutionX="1280" ResolutionY="720"

If that doesn't work, look for RefreshRate="60" and change it to RefreshRate="59", I've seen rare cases where monitors can't handle 60 refresh rates.

Everything you need to change should be around line 5 of the GamerProfile.xml file.

OR find a nicer monitor and hook it up, launch the game and dial back the settings using the in-game options screen.

I was running resolution 1920 / 1980, I tried 1600 / 1024 I am using a widescreen Asus monitor, I only use that particular computer for games and have never had this problem before.

I found the document you mention, at the moment mine says Resolution Y "900" Resolution X 1600
I am more concerned about my refresh rate, I have my monitor set to 70, the game says 150
Do you think I should try that first?

Yeah, for sure, even if your monitor is high end ($300+), it probably is only capable of 144 refresh rate tops. I'd set the refresh rate at 60 in the XML file and give it a try. That's likely what is preventing you from seeing anything.

THanks for your help by the way, my question now is rather more basic as I haven't done much in Windows 7, how do go about changing that gamer profile doc, it wont let me do anything with it?

All sorted and working now, I right clicked the folder which allowed me to open it in Notebook for editing, changed the refresh rate from 150 to 70, and now it works fine.
I wonder though why it installed itself with such a high refresh rate or is that the rate the latest equipment is using noe?

    Thank you guys.

I got the same problem and editing the .xml file to change the refreshrate settings did the trick.
