    Godsmack would be decent.

Still a small part of me hoping the 'ZZ Top' via SuperBowl XXXI angle is right.

ZZ Top is one of those elite guitarist bands that never made it into RockBand becuase of "masters with stems"

RockSmith doesn't need those so these are the bands I'm always waiting for.

    Image properties:
The title is 'a lateral supernova'.
    The subject is '713/8773'

    Dan has confirmed:
"1. The image has relevance, but so do the other elements you've uncovered. "

    Another clue:
    clxxx

    Did I miss anything?
Ok well I think we may be missing the obvious.

What is a smack? A "lateral" or 180 degree movement. What is lateral supernova? A "godsmack"

I am pretty sure we got the answer yesterday when someone said a member of the band member finished poker tournament in 700+ or something, which corresponded with the other part of the info in the picture.

Does this image of a rope bridge help strengthen anyone's google-fu?

But if it's really Sully Erna then it's possible we get a pack from his solo album Avalon

Any chance it's part of the stage structure seen here

I see some sort of Asian styled building/pagoda? Which makes me think of the 8/12/72 date (Last American combat ground troops leave Vietnam). Still have no clue where 'a lateral supernova' fits in this puzzle.

Of course my manipulation of the image could be completely wrong, and I'm just gonna throw you all off the correct path!
This also looks like a circus tent with an elephant in the middle. Godsmack first went on tour headlining Jim Romes circus.

Official spoiler alert: Some future DLC will be from the 90s and 00s.

just clutching at straws really, you usually make it pretty clear when something is a clue..

is the anagram angle in any way an indicator?

That's why the phrase was "a lateral supernova."

With the 713/8773 Poker tournament link I think Godsmack is correct.
Godsmack is correct. Sorry, didn't spot this because I am busy with other stuff this weekend.

Still don't know what the picture is though.
This is my fault -- I think the image was probably just too hard this week. I was afraid that just posting the original image would be too easy, but it was clearly too hard the way I altered it. As a helper, I was going to post another version that was a little less distressed, but since you got the core clues -- the relevance of the numbers (amazing how fast you got those!) and the anagram -- here is the source image:

Complicated image to begin with, which is what made it of interest, but bonus points if you recognize it...

...and yes, that is one of the five songs.
