Im just going to get right to the point and not waste your guys time but anyway as you guys know "Dark Zones" and "Secure Zones" are the only areas in the game where you experiences PvP, They said the reasoning for this is to not ruin exploration for people by dying or whatever. But in my opinion I feel like the game would be more fun if it the whole open world you could encounter players because it would add a lot more fun and more great experiences to have with your friends? But still some people think the Dark zones are a good idea, Personally they kind of ruin it abit for me because im in it for the PvP and Exploration and I would rather them be mixed together, so do you think they should implant an option to choose a server between a map with Dark Zones and a map with Complete PvP so people can get into the game the way they want to play it?
Wouldn't this go a bit against the pillar idea for this game in first place? You are member of Division, organization that tries to salvage what's left of society and help it on its feet again. You co-operate with other Division cells and should not fight them. At least that's how I see it. Else you would need to play as some of remaining gang members or other game units.
PVP is not for everyone and even though some find the challenge fascinating, it can also be very frustrating. They say this won't be a hardcore survival game like Dayz, where you can be attacked everywhere. They want it to be accessible for also mainstream- and casual players, then you have to limit the PVP to specific zones and leave to choice to the player if the want to experience pvp or not.
Elder Scrolls Online had also a separation of PVP and PVE and in a very short time it was obvious that there were a lot of balancing and also grouping problems. It was possible that a Level-Cap-Player could decimate a whole Zerg of low-level-players that should have been buffed by the system to be able to survive in PVP. PVP was basically broken and unplayable. So you could still do the PVE-Content and go back to the PVP when that was fixed. Imagine problems like this in a game like Division where you have PVP everywhere? Some - lets say - powergames reach level-cap in no time and wreck the experience for other players by randomly killing them and stealing the gear. This is poison for a game like this and also for the community.
That's why IMO it is very good that they limit the PVP to these Dark Zones. Because this way you can learn your skills, level-up your char in PVE and when you are ready in terms of skill and gear you can do the jump to PVP and try your best against other players. And if there is a good balancing and a well implemented grouping-mechanic this can be a lot of fun. But there are a lot of ifs in a sentence^^
I think the world PvP would be a necessity. Think about it... you're in a post-apocalyptic environment where everyone and everything is trying nothing more than to SURVIVE. This level of gameplay does much more than just provide PvP. It provides IMMERSION, and NECESSITATES cooperative play, and it keeps players' heads on a swivel, which means they are going to need to think before they make a potentially disastrous move. I don't see world PvP as a bad thing in this sense... I honestly think that it would provide a much, MUCH needed layer into the game that acts as a catalyst for so many other elements to come into play.
Deadkillgoblin,
if you look at the holographic map pop out (which has been revamped and is just expertly designed!), you can see certain parts of the map in orange. These mark Dark Zones and/or general Social environments where a number of players can interact. These zones can vary from a single building (Hotel, Tech Office etc. from video), to a larger complex, to even a huge part of the map. In the vid, Nick zooms in & out, showing more shaded areas all of which a bunch of players can can navigate.
Group events have also been confirmed in the game with at least 8 co op!

The developers have said that the game isn't quite in the "post-apocalyptic" setting yet. We're post-pandemic, lots of people are still alive and indoors suffering from their infection. The Division takes place immediately after the weaponized virus is let loose on New York, which means large parts of the rest of the United States and other countries in the world might still be OK. The developers have even said you can "win" the game by taking back New York city and restoring order, however they also said that there will always be more things to do (DLC, side-quests, etc).
This makes me think that after completing the main story, the city will be in a generally "stable" state with only a few outbreaks of unruliness here and there. So it's not quite "everyone for themselves" yet.
I think separating PvP zones from exploration zone is the best. I have some experiences from playing these all out PvP games. Nothings goods comes from them. I don't judge your playstyle but I think what we need right now is a game who stand differently from others.
From the last 2 years, we've seen a lot of games going for DayZ style, infestation and others... I think a big parts of players here, who like "survival games" look more into exploration instead of a battlefield. As much a game may be oriented to a precise objective, it's always the players, the community, who decide how the game is played.
Take Infestation: Survivor stories for example. Others players are supposed to be an "additional" threat while you gather food and water because your real level is determined by the time you stayed alive, not the amount of players you go hunt.
Now I am going to talk about something a LOT of people misunderstand about surviving an apocalypse. I am not saying that I am 100% right. I played a lot of survivals games before getting this conclusion. Being in a survival scenario where everyone fight to survive doesn't mean that you have to shoot everything. Anyone in a situation like this wouldn't get up a morning and tell himself: <<I am going to kill people for fun today>>. Well... not someone with a sane brain at least >_>. Human's morals and valor are completely erased when we enter a game. There is no "That guys definitely hungry, or lost" , there is only the " Hey look, someone. Let's shoot him and continue our travel".
Last thing to conclude. Others survival's games include the player's threat because their zombies lack any kind of intelligences. They is not a lot of notions of tactic with them, exept getting around them or shooting all of them in the head until there is no more. The Division seems to have is load of npc's with many features. And the the amount of skill and playstyle a player can get prove that the gave will be more oriented on PvE.
I know I said a lot of things, maybe not in the right order or it simply looks chaotic with a lot of bad spelling. The only thing I am trying to say is: Let's not consider this like another survival games where everyone is getting shot at for no reason. People who are looking foward this game want to explore with their friends without having to worry about this new gamers generation who have no ideas of what role playing games is. Yes I am making this statement because it's true. I am getting tired of seeing may games getting their potential ruined because of gamers who don't know how to game. Period.
I'll see all of you, old farts, in the game for some real fun
Oh and I am 23 btw

In WWII they had the ability to identify other members ("Flash" and "Thunder" from saving private ryan if you want to see it in action) so those fancy contacts and watch should definitely be able to identify other division members. So I am really hoping they will have a better explanation than "Oh we just don't know who is hostile and who isn't". My fingers are crossed for a good reason to PVP.
We shall find out when the game is dueOriginally Posted by TheDivsionFan Go to original post![]()
The only thing I can think of is that since The Division was so secretive, there are different directives going out to different agents from different people in their chain of command. Perhaps there's a "rouge faction" similar to how Hydra infiltrated "S.H.I.E.L.D." in Marvels Agents of SHIELD and Captain America: Winter Soldier. Maybe this "rouge group" inside of The Division is telling groups of agents to attack other agents because "those agents" are the traitors, and you totally aren't.
Keep in mind, the infection / virus has been confirmed as a weaponized bio-attack on the city. It wasn't just an outbreak. This rogue element I'm describing could of been behind the entire thing!
Plausible?
