Must say i cannot be fussy on a controller as i seem to be ok once I've played it for 10 mins. I'm still using my original pad from 2015 and seems fine too me on trials. Even have a wired pad for Xbox one when my other needs charging and just carry on.

I'm not a ninja fan so throttle trigger for me are ok.

But again from your post you seems comfortable in the 360 pad and id stick too that.

Imagine trying too use the one Xbox original controller. Was like holding a salad bowl.

oh but that was the OP. I am playing on the PS4 and I wondered if the controller is a factor in why so many of the very good players moved to the Xbox platform.

Pretty sure people moved to Xbox because of the competition and not the controller. I'm sure Lorcan wouldn't be the beast he is if the PS4 controller wasn't as good

Well I did move from PS4 to X1 because of the controller

On PS4 the triggers are "tighter" (=precise throttle control is harder) and the sticks have more play and less grip (=worse for movements like a bunny hop).
I doesn't make much difference if you're used to it though, but personally I switched when I was just getting into extreme tracks and I got way better instantly.

I also play Trials on PC and use the X1 controller (2016 iteration, way better than the earlier models) there as well, but only because I am used to it.
I think most people will consider a wired 360 controller to be the best and I can agree with that.

    PS4
    Xbox 360
Xbox One Elite (custom trigger curve mapping)
    Xbox One
    Razer Wildcat
    Razer Sabertooth

These are the ones that I have used, and I would rate them for Trials in that order. I am an Xbox One player. I don't own a PS4, but the amount of time I spent playing with the PS4 controller RUINED me playing Trials on other controllers. I try, I do horrible, I rage, I stop.

The PS4 triggers have more resistance (or it seems to to me?) than the other controllers which leads to better throttle control. The controlstick internals are all the exact same hardware between all of the popular controller brands, with the only difference being the actual stick that your fingers touch.

The real difference is in the triggers.I think the PS4 has the best specifically because they have a better shape and slightly shorter travel than the other controllers listed.

I feel the DS4 controller is best for me. I like the weak restistance in the sticks, also the triggers feels more precise. However, I do have a problem with DS4 controllers, The R2 trigger (throttle) seems to wear out, meaning that after a year of playing I can't reach 100% throttle, I have to use the digital buttons for throttle. So I have to buy a new controller each year
But I do feel, the controller feels best for Trials.

For me the PS4 controller s horibble for trials. Because of the joystick and the trigger. Xbox ONE controller is the best for sur

As a ninja rider my vote goes emphatically for the X1 controller. The throttle is very sensitive, but is unbelievably precise. It allows for a degree of control I could never get with the 360 controller.

The controller is fairly small/lightweight in my opinion, and takes a hell of a beating. other than me smashing the sticks around for 2+ years, I also have a 4 y/o who has dropped it several times on our tile floor. Still extremely responsive and has well out-lived any other trials controller.

My only gripes are the trigger can wear on your finger after several hours of continuous play, and the ABXY buttons are very close together which can occasionally be an issue.

For me it would be the ps4 controller if not for the fact that my first one also lost the ability to reach full throttle. It took me a while to realize I didn't start sucking at the game all of a sudden. I think sony improved the newer models but I'm not 100% sure.

I also use the xbone controller on pc. It's very precise but not as comfortable to hold for me.
