Honestly, this is the only game I have issues with.

Most games I can run 100% fine. I.e. Sleeping dogs at Max, Witcher 2 at Max (Without Ubersampling ofc), Farcry 3 etc all of them with little to no lag. This is the first game to make my computer run like utter ****.

Similar people on reddit.com/r/watch_dogs are reporting the same issue where people with weaker rigs are getting much better performance. Read this link for example:

    http://www.reddit.com/r/watch_dogs/c...ps_any/chscjx1

Some dude has a 770 with similar fps to me but with a better rig. Some dude below has a 650 Ti with 45-55 fps. Why is there such an inconsistency?

I, apparently, made a bad decision in purchasing watchdogs as when I attempted to "play" it, it was more or less unplayable.

    I have done the following
    :

    1. Disabled the Page File Check
    2. Changed all settings to low (EVERYTHING IS LOW OR OFF)
    3. Got the updated drivers from NVIDIA
    4. Got the day one patch for uplay
    5. Set my audio to stereo on windows
    6. Verified File Integrity
    7. Restarted my computer with minimal drivers set
    8. Searched everywhere else for a fix but none found.

    My Specs are the following:

    • Intel i7 970 (8 CPU's) @ 2.8GHz
    • GTX 470 1200 MB Video Memory
    • 16 GB Memory Ram
    • Monitor Resolution: 1680 x 1050

    Clarifying my Game Settings:

    • Resolution: 1680 x 1050 (I've also tried 1280 x 960 etc but no major increase in performance)
    • Texture Level: Medium (Lowest possible)
    • Anti Aliasing: Diabled
    • Reflections: Low
    • Water: Low
    • Shaders: Low
    • Level of Detail: Low
    • Shadows: Low
    • Depth Of Field: Disabled
    • Motion Blur: Low
    • Ambient Occlusion: Disabled
    • Vsync: Off
    • Window Setting: Borderless
    • GPU Max Buffered Frames: 3

    My Problems:

FPS when walking around in the city: approx. 18-23
    FPS when driving: approx. 7-12

When turning SFX Audio to 0
    :

FPS when walking around in the city: approx. 19-24
    FPS when driving: approx. 11-19

    Regardless of any setting:

I have constant audio lag and the only time audio plays normally is if Aiden is outside of the car and physically standing still. Otherwise, the audio stutter is immense to the point that, sometimes, the audio is delayed for 5-10 seconds, or in the worst case doesn't even play and gets skipped over. (I'm not exaggerating).

My CPU usage is at 50%

Any advice? Maybe the game doesn't utilize all 8 cores? I should be okay at minimum settings with a GTX 470 and with a 1680 x 1050 resolution monitor...

I really want to play the game, but, with fps like, I would rather play something that was actually playable than try to play a game which just won't run at an acceptable level.

Links to screenshots with MSI Afterburner:

Or here are the images directly:

SFX Audio set to 0 - All graphic options are off or set to low:
    (FPS at top left corner)

SFX Audio set to 100 - All graphic options are off or set to low:
    (FPS at top left corner)

    Thanks,

    ~ Kash
It has to be the game, I am running it on an OC'd GTX 770 and an i5 3570k@4.3Ghz and it is a lag/stutterfest. Going from 50 frames down to 20 in a split second causes the game to freeze up for 2-3 seconds. Ubisoft is getting as bad as EA sadly.
    Edit:
Also does it on all graphic settings, doesn't matter what settingI still get the lag.

The stuttering in my game is crazy....doesnt matter if its low medium high or ultra... the same....

    i5-4670 3.4 ghz
    8gb ram
    GTX760
    Driver is up to date

I cant even optimize my game... The resolution always stays undefined... This is really frustrating. At least I got this game for free from the Nvidia promotion. I cant imagine the frustration for those who bought the game

Only thing we can do is wait for Ubisoft to release an optimisation patch or maybe identify the problem. At this point, too many people are having the same issue with many having more capable hardware than mine...

They just have horrible optimization. I have a the exact same problem with Watch Dogs, and I have an AMD Radeon HD 6900M series and no matter what settings I put it on, I get frame rate issues so bad that it pauses for a couple of seconds, even while running or walking, but not as bad as when I'm driving. I also have the same audio lag problems as everyone else. I have a similar issue in the Day Z mod for Arma 2. There is no way that I should have frame rate issues in that game, but people with crappier computers than me run it better. I play plenty of high end games on this computer, with zero problems.

A tip for Ubisoft, and any other developer. When you are testing your game, test it on a bunch of different graphics cards, even from different companies. I know that they can't possibly have only one computer with one graphics card to test the damn thing.

What I'm guessing happened, is because of the deal they made with Nvidia, they ended up testing it mainly on their one GPU, and neglected to diversify.

I have the same problem and I have i7 920 and a GTX 570 Superclocked.
    Add this thing:
sometimes there's a freeze for 5/6 seconds, mostly during driving.
^^ This, 5 second freezing regardless of low or ultra graphics.
    My specs:
    i7 2600K - 3.4GHz
    16GB RAM 1600MHz
    Gigabyte GTX 780 GHz edition.

I know my system should be able to run this fine, i have also tried all the solutions.
Reinstalling to program files instead of program files(x86) seemed to fix it last night, but upon start-up today the freezing is back.

Another lazy console port by Ubisoft, why do we even expect anything but?

    My pc:
    Intel i7 870 @ 2,93 GHz
    8 GB RAM
    nVidia GeForce GTX 470

Very bad port... I can run any new game on High without problems, even games that look just as good as this (if not better)
Some quiet parts run okay, but whenever I go into the city, or it starts raining, FPS has a huge drop...
I'd take Dark Souls PC ports over this any day.

And lots of stuff lacking in this game besides the graphics, but don't even get me started on that.
Even basic stuff like crouching and shoulder swapping is not in the game!

For everyone who is also having issues:

Have you changed the display settings to medium and checked if you still have the freezing/delay? This setting should be in "Display" and is only accessible from the main menu. Having it on ultra could cause problems. I don't know if everyone has tried this.

But yes, for me, no matter what text quality in "Display" and no matter what setting in the graphics options, I have the same amount of lag
