Hi,
I have a problem I tried to solve many hours, but I didn't find any solution to it. Any help would be appreciated.
I used the FPS tutorial (link) and played around it quite a bit. I created the menu system in the beginning of the track. Then the camera goes to game character with its physics turned off at this moment so the player can only look around and not move. After a while I set up that the game character "teleports" to different position using OPE and then turn the physics on so player can move. But for some reason, the player movement / the camera movement doesn't work the way it's supposed to. Movement is almost backwards and the camera turns out crazy.
I got it work in "ok" way by turning the "player camera" use as game camera option off. But in this way the camera movement is kind of "stiff". It's not as smooth as using use as game camera on.
Does someone know if I have done something wrong and what could cause the camera "craziness"?
Does the angle that the player teleports to the same as it's starting angle?
How do you turn the camera, OPE?
Are you using World or Local coordinates and angles?
Did you move ALL pieces associated with this system?
Is the physics Bubble associated/moves with this player when teleported?
If you use the Area Effector for movement, and the controls are pushing it in the wrong direction, they could be teleported into the wrong angle. Run the teleport after turning on 'Show Editor Icons' & see where everything is. Also try adding another camera away from the player setup so you can see everything at once from another viewpoint.
hi this could be down to the camera interpolation and speed settings,
under the blue main cameras advance settings turn the position interpolation up to 100, now set the yellow custom cameras settings as follows, interpolation amount to 0 and interpolation speed to 100.
if this doesn't help it should still lock the custom camera to the ball object better anyway.
Had a similar problem with OPE'ing the Game Character. Pissed me off to no end. What worked in evo did not properly in Fusion in this instance. I say 'properly' because it worked when I OPE'd the game character once, the second time however it did not. I went over it many times, experimented with all possible influences, looked at the (simple) code in evo. nothing. Why could I OPE (one impulse only) the GC once, but then I try again immediately after (exact same code) and it would spaz out completely with varying results. I couldn't make sense of it. Still got the code, but of course there is no reasonable way to get any confirmation. Didn't matter in the end though because it wasn't in any way necessary, it was just one thing when making my best skill game yet that had me beat.
@Jolan @dasraizer thanks for the replies guys. I messed around it and finally got good enough outcome, I just have no idea how it works. It works ok when I turn on "use as a game camera" option just before I test the track. It's automatically deselected when I'm back editing.
@apdenton1 That's what I'm thinking also. The code doesn't make sense. Something causes the outcome to be random sometimes but I got it to work somehow. Btw, I wish I was able to play your track
I just wanna finish this track. I guess I stick to the Trials tracks in the future..![]()
