Earlier today I was talking with gangly about speedrunning Trials Fusion on console and I came to think of how I used to speedrun Trials 2 SE back in the day. where you would just create a new profile (if deleting a profile back then the times got removed from the leaderboard) , then play all tracks once, faults didn't matter. So, instead of making a new profile you just download a program called LiveSplit and use that instead of creating a new profile. Some might not call this a speed run, but you are going as fast as you possible can on all tracks in the game to see how quick you can do it, therefore I would call it a speedrun, just a different category than the once some of you might have seen on twitch.....This is a ''new'' category, but mostly just so there is another thing to compete in. The rules to this speedrun is simple. no coffins and no checkpoint whoring.
You have all bikes unlocked so it's the same for all in this one. you do not have to play and unlock the bikes, which I find more fun not to. It is only the tracks that counts towards global that you need to play. faults doesn't matter, it is all about your total time after you finish inferno 4.
This is how your splits should be looking so that it is the same for everyone.

This is an image of my last run I've had. in order to post a time IF you do feel like you want to compete against others in this then you need to take a screenshot of the timer like I have done when you are done with the run :-)
Remember to save your splits once you've completed a run and then to load the splits again before starting your next run so that you are playing against your PB/WR :-)
Livesplit can be downloaded here: http://livesplit.org/downloads/
I will be doing a lot of these speedruns on stream, hopefully others will join me and compete in it :-).
Sounds good, pretty sure gangly will post a time today, and hopefully I'll post a better time today aswell :-)Originally Posted by Carmine9437 Go to original post
I Still strongly believe you shouldn't be calling this a Speedrun,
You may be playing through the game in the fastest you can,
But no "Speedrun" of a game starts from a saved state.
All start from 0% save states,
The way you do this skips out so much of the game, The lower bikes, the tutorials, The chapters unlocking, Not needing X amount of medals to open chapters, Not having to play skill games to get the required medals to open chapters up, The list goes on.
Imho this would be the equivalent of someone loading up a game like Zelda and going straight to the last boss, or going to a part of the game unaccessible at the beginning. because the game has a save state and they can go wherever they like.
For all of these reasons this should not be called a speedrun, Imo.
We can't temporarily delete medals on console, so what do you expect us to do? Create a new account everytime we want to do a speedrun?Originally Posted by The_Blaze_Jp Go to original post
Regardless of whether or not you start from a 0% save state, it is a still a full speedrun of the game.
behave blaze. speed run is speed run. it may not be 'pure' but props should go to Sandholm for thinking about it, coming up with a console format speedrun that works and everyone can do. Trying to bury it because it's not your idea of a speed run helps no oneOriginally Posted by The_Blaze_Jp Go to original post![]()
I don't get why you keep going on about it's not a speedrun. when it clearly is a speedrun. we are not reporting it to any sites about how fast we are doing it. we are just competing with each other on console to get all normal tracks done as fast as possible. it is just a different type of doing it. I really do not see what the big deal is when we aren't comparing it to any of the OTHER TYPES of speedrunning a game. besides. its only around 5-7 minutes faster. but the loading times are so bad on 360. took gangly over 15 seconds if not more to load frostbite.
@Chaeron yeah, I find this more fun as well instead of starting from 0 every time :d looking forward to see how it goes for you![]()
