For me, HD was the king of trials, I played that more than most games in my lifetime, never built tracks but just tried to get fast times (and mainly failed in that quest). It had the best lines and I felt it was more 'underground' than it's successors. I am enjoying fusion as much as I did evo on the whole, and with future dlc im certain this one will better evo for me, but can never top trials hd as that was my first time, and the earth moved
I guess if you preferred evo, play that and hope the dlc changes your mind.
i noticed there was no gradual variation difficulty in the tracks .its like the complete first 5 environments were meduims and the last few were hard / extreme /ninja . like someone made all the first part of the game then someone made the second .no easy then medium / hard /ext . no build up to get you skills up
When I got the trial/demo of this game I said to myself "I don't like this" but being a huge fan of EVO and HD (more Evo than HD) I just had to have it so I got it anyways hoping that I would change my mind after I got into the full game but the more I played it the more disappointed I was...it was really a mistake the game really IS dumb down (kinda bit childish in my opinion) like others are saying, that was the first thing I noticed with the bounciness/banshee like physics... I mean I have played the game I'm about to finish all platinums (not that I'm THAT good is just the game easier I don[t think I even have 50% plat on EVO) but that will be it for me; maybe I'll build 1 track and complete couple more easy achievements but nothing else, even considering deleting cause I just don't want to see it there I wish I could make it disappeared but it's not like I had the physical version so that I could sell it online or give it to my nephews; I can't stand it anymore starting with the whole clean-futuristic look the toy-like bikes the ridiculous outfits with nothing to wear to look normal, I dunno that's my opinion but this game is just not for me anymore I've tried to stayed positive but no more and those wish list and fixes I'll be watching from the shadows but didn't someone said on this forums that for future DLC there will be a "Hoverboard" "Donkey" comeback and a "Helicopter"??? ... that's the name of a new bike right? The helicopter.... anyways... that's how I see it.
... and going back to EVO? I can't go back to EVO I've played EVO for 2 whole years (had to take 2 month break because of moving, sadly watching videos online) I could play 1 -2 tracks per week but it depends on how much building is going on with EVO... but this game not an option anymore...
I do agree about the Pit Viper vs the Phoenix. The Phoenix is a far better balanced bike IMHO and great for some tight technical trials like riding, which sadly Fusion doesn't accommodate well. In addition the Phoenix was great at tracks with large sweeping jumps as well.
I barely did any single player grinding on Evo, because the tyre glitching drove me mad on enough tracks to make it not worth my while. I find Fusion to be magnitudes worse in this regard and I have even less desire to speed run the single player because of this. I will likely grind my few favourites and that will be that.
In terms of track difficulty I don't 100% agree. Yes the first half of the game is a cake walk for experienced trailers, but for new people it's a challenge to negotiate even a marginally steep incline so there needs to be something for those people. For most of those people even then hard tracks are going to feel like ninjas. As far as extremes go I don't think they need to be too much harder at all, any harder and zero faults will be only attainable by the most elite riders. RL have been generous enough to include hidden ninja levels within the single player campaign and for harder stuff there's track central.
Sure most of us would like the game to be more technical and demanding, but that limits the game's audience and the amount of potential $$$ and those $$$ are required for maintaining and growing RedLynx as a whole and producing future games. It's a catch 22 really, but at the same time I don't think RL have entirely forgotten us and I am certain the future DLC will show this. Heck I think they've done a pretty decent job of trying to attract new gamers and appease the hardcore considering the level of ambition in going multiplat and in such a short period of time with a rapidly growing team. Given those variables, I am surprised the game is as good as it is!
People on this forum are a tiny number compared to the sales of the game. There needs to be something for those people whether they play for 1 month or 2 years. At the same time there does need to be something for us, because if everyone in this community were to stop supporting the game with amazing speed runs that inspire new players and releasing great tracks (making track central permanently look like a new trials feed) it could harm the longevity of the game IMHO.
Ok I've rambled enough.
Edit: Forgot to add my main point! Why play this game over Evo? Well at this point I can't add anything other than the fact that new customs on Evo are dead. You can of course experience the back catalogue of great Evo tracks by trawling through morrillo 's database. What I can say however, is Fusion has the potential to be the ultimate trials game should the wave of patches and dlc and support from RedLynx deliver and maybe that will give you reason to play fusion over evo.
Agree. But I had the 'misfortune' to play kid m p c's new Evo track. I say that because i) it was incredible, and ii) it made me miss both the phoenix and the gritty look of the pieces on Evo.Originally Posted by Retribution Go to original post
Oh well, as you say Ret time to move on (unless RL are kind enough to give us 'gritty' pieces in the dirst DLC? please...)
I wouldn't mind a 'classic' pack but I don't want it to be a DLC.. a free update would be cool. I'd rather the DLC I had to pay for be new stuff.Originally Posted by morrillo Go to original post
Thats probably been the biggest downer for me, that they changed the physics of the Phoenix to that of the Pit Viper. It just doesnt feel right, and generally just worse.
As I have said previously, why change something which isnt broke?
On a different note I found this game 'Shadow Complex' on XBLA and its pretty amazing, why ive never heard about it before I dont know, didnt realise its been out for about 4 years now. I'd definately recommend people to try the demo of it.
Shadow Complex is indeed a great game.Originally Posted by aLeXeLa Go to original post
To go back to your comment. Of course the Viper is different to the Pheonix. It's a different bike. It's a different game.
I want to like D2Dahaka's post. That's the spirit sir. More positives. Fusion has pissed off the minute hardcore. (those issues won't be dismissed I'm sure) but you do have to take a step back and realise we the forum users aren't the only people playing trials.
Doesn't excuse some broken promises but there are other threads about that.![]()
